Saguaro Lake cleanup

Saguaro Lake cleanup

Volunteers turned out at Saguaro Lake on Saturday morning, Jan. 28, for a cleanup event. There were two different groups: one walked the shoreline and trail around the Butcher Jones Recreation Area and adjacent cove, the other consisted of nonmotorized and motorized boats cleaning up along the fishing piers near the Second Ramp Boat Launch and working up lake.

The volunteers collectively filled 29 trash bags along with three large leaf habitats that were no longer functioning from the 90s. More than 1,000 plastic water bottles were collected, primarily in the cattails at Butcher Jones. There were also a variety of other items such as lighters, shoes, balls, and sunscreen.

Many thanks to all who volunteered to participate in the event.
