Season Final Future Pro Tour Event This Saturday!

The Future Pro Tour ends its 7-event season on the popular California Delta Saturday, Oct 11th, with two exciting races at stake. First and foremost, anglers that have battled all year through adverse conditions and tough bites, will put it all together in an effort to garner the points necessary to qualify for a berth in the 2003 Future Pro Tour Classic and the opportunity to claim the Future Pro Tour Classic title. Winners of the Future Pro Tour Classic Cup will also receive a new vehicle courtesy of title sponsors People’s Folsom Lake/Stockton – Chrysler-Jeep-Nissan-Isuzu-Hyundai dealerships!

Also up for grabs is the Lucky Craft/Future Pro Tour - Anglers of the Year title. This title carries with it a 1-year sponsorship from Lucky Craft, Reaction Innovations, and paid entry fees into next year’s tour. “We are proud to be to be part of what the Future Pro Tour has accomplished this year”, said Ted Sakai general manager of Lucky Craft. “We take pride in associating what we consider the best baits, with the best anglers!” he further added.

The race for Anglers of the Year is a tight one, with first and second place leaders being separated by only one point. “We want it bad!” said Justin Lucas (aka “The California Kid”) currently holding down second place with team partner Jack Schmidt. “We had a tough time at the first Delta event in August, but we know what we have to do to in this event to capitalize on the fall bite”, he said confidently. Justin and Jack moved up from fishing in the small boat division last year to the big boat division this year, and are really making an impression on their competitors with solid performances at every event.

Steve Meeks and Bill Brattain, current leaders aren’t lacking in the confidence department either, and look forward to fishing on what they consider to be their home waters. “We know this river pretty good and if we ignore the pressure, and focus on fishing they way we know how, we’ll get the title” they said enthusiastically.

But….don’t look now guys.. directly behind you, are ten – “dream killer” teams that could come on strong and surprise everyone! Man…this one is heating up to be a real dogfight!
