Top Stick Crossover Tour Sponsored by Cousins Tackle

August 23-24 Event Pits Southern California's Best Fresh and Saltwater Bass Anglers Against Each Other in Unique Team Event The Top Stick Tour is proud to announce a new and exciting type of bass tournament for Summer 2014 - a "Crossover Tournament" designed to see not only which anglers have the best skills in both freshwater and saltwater, but also who can adapt their favorite "go-to" strategies for success when fishing out of their comfort zones. This unique event is scheduled for August 23-24, and will be held out of Dana Landing in Mission Bay (Day 1) and San Diego's El Capitan Reservoir (Day 2). It will team up 45 of the best freshwater anglers and 45 of the best saltwater bass anglers, fishing together on each other's boats. Entrants will sign up either as a fresh or saltwater boater, and a blind draw will determine teammates about 10 days before launch time.

Day 1 will target spotted bay bass; Day 2 will target El Capitan's trophy largemouth. Entry fees are $200 per angler (excluding insurance and event fees) and will cover two prize options: Big Fish each day and Big Bag each day. "This is an exciting fishing format whose time has come," said Top Stick Tour Owner John Barron. "This tournament will challenge anglers and force them to fish outside their comfort zones. We're confident that both fresh and saltwater experts will learn from one another, and as a result, become better tournament anglers overall. It will be an exciting and fun event, and it will prove that even Southern California's best anglers still have something to learn," added Barron. The Topstick Tour Crossover Bass Tournament is being sponsored by Cousins Tackle Corporation, a manufacturer of premium quality, American-made rods for fresh and saltwater fishing based in Huntington Beach, California. Fishermen interested in signing up for this event can do so at the Cousins Tackle exhibits during the upcoming Long Beach and Del Mar Fred Hall Fishing Tackle and Boat Shows. Tournament fees will not be due until five weeks prior.

"The fresh and saltwater bass tournament circuits have paralleled each other for years, reflecting California's unique inshore and freshwater fisheries," said Bill Buchanan, President of Cousins Tackle. This innovative event is bringing the two together in a way that hasn't been done before - and we're proud to offer our support. As a builder of precision-crafted rods for serious fresh and saltwater anglers, this is a perfect match for us," added Buchanan.
