A new National Park Service report shows that 5.6 million visitors to Lake Mead National Recreation Area in 2022 spent an estimated $280 million in gateway regions near the park. This spending supported a total of 3,020 jobs, $126 million in labor income, $211 million in value added, and $343 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Lake Mead NRA.

This Visitor Spending Effects report is a reflection of the greater impacts that our local communities, park partners, philanthropic groups, and visitors have on Lake Mead NRA. We are deeply appreciative of our gracious local community, as well as everyone who loves the park and sees benefit in having a place to recreate.
The peer-reviewed visitor spending analysis was conducted by economists at the National Park Service and the U.S. Geological Survey.
