ASGA collaborates with industry artist Cody Richardson to create a limited edition license plate art collection.
The seven (7) unique, limited edition custom license plate art albies are now live on The ASGA Shop.
Cody Richardson started out by creating personal designs in his home shop for friends and family before his work spread through local fly shops like wildfire. These infamous license plate pieces are now carried and sold in shops around the world. We admire Cody’s efforts to utilize his unique art style to support just causes and we’re honored to have a chance to join the Cody’s Fish family.
The ASGA team connected with Cody earlier this year and it didn’t take long for all parties involved to realize a custom false albacore collection was a “no-brainer” to celebrate the amazing results of The Albie Project’s Year 1 efforts and fundraise for even more comprehensive research this year.
Each piece is roughly 42″ x 20″ and features a blend of the iconic states known for chasing little tunny by land and sea. Secure the albie featuring your home waters before it’s too late!
If you haven’t been following along with #TheAlbieProject, we just announced some very exciting news from our traditional and acoustic tagging campaigns last week: multiple spaghetti-tagged albies that were tagged and released off Cape Cod, MA in Fall 2022 were recently recaptured off the coast of Jupiter, FL. The cherry on top: those tagged fish were recorded and released to swim another day.
That same week, our friends at the New England Aquarium let us know that our little tunnys touting acoustic tags pinged all the way from the Vineyard to the Carolinas and southern Florida. This is all monumental news for albie lovers. We are gradually building a rock-solid case to show stock connectivity in the Atlantic. That has big implications for future management and a better understanding of this undervalued fishery.
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate this connected coast than a collection of albies built upon the core states that host the 500,000+ targeted trips for albies each year. Each of the seven art pieces has a unique arrangement of plates unlike the others, so if you see your home waters represented you’ll want to get on that tunny before someone else does!
