Lucas Oil High-Performance Racing Design
Lucas Oil products are designed to withstand the toughest of conditions. “Everything Lucas does is built with high-performance racing in mind,” said McDonald. “If it can withstand those engines, it can definitely withstand ours.”
He explained that the additives used in their products help them stand out from the rest and that the product is top quality for everything they make.
Outboard Oil Warranty Misconceptions
One of the major misconceptions among outboard engine owners is that you are required to run a certain oil to stay within warranty requirements.
“The warranty specifically says that the outboard oil you run must be equal to or exceed requirements for the warranty valid,” said McDonald. “All of the outboard manufacturers do a great job building engines, but their oil is made by a third-party and they just add a label to it. Lucas Oil makes a superior product.”
Lucas makes their own oils and uses virgin sources to get the best possible product. “I run the Lucas Synthetic Outboard Engine Oil and it has been flawless,” added McDonald. “One major thing I noticed is that you don’t get that black suit inside of your prop hub like you do with other oils.”
Lucas Lower Unit Gear Oil
The Lucas M8 Synthetic SAE 75W-90 Marine Gear Oil is what McDonald uses to service his outboard. “It’s a pure synthetic gear oil,” he said. “It lasts a long time and blends safely with other oils and additives.”
The product was originally designed for offshore racing boats and is an excellent choice for bass boats.
Lucas Oil Ethanol Treatment
Ethanol is a big problem with engines and we continually hear more about the damages from it. There are several ethanol treatments on the market including the Lucas Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers. Both Rose and McDonald use it in both their boats and vehicles.
“If you have anything that runs on gas, you need to do what you can to protect it from ethanol,” said Rose.
McDonald echoed the statement and said that it also eliminates the need for a product like Ring Free with additives as the Lucas product cleans and protects the same way.
Lucas SlickMist Cleaning Products
Their SlickMist line of products helps to clean and protect both types of vehicles and boats. It includes everything from interior detailing and tire care to wax. The marine product is a Speed Wax and it can be used on fiberglass gelcoat or wrapped boats. Rose likes it for the ease of use. “You can just spray it on and wipe it off,” he said.
Lucas Fishing Reel Oil
Sometimes the simplest things can help make a product even better. The Lucas Fishing Reel Oil is one of those and it comes down to the applicator.
“It is a needle applicator and makes it easy to get into tight spots on your reel,” said Rose.
It also allows for precise placement of as little as one drop.
McDonald also likes the applicator and how easy it is to store, but adds that the product itself is excellent. “You can rub it in your fingers and it will stay lubricated,” he said. “Some of the others I have tried – you do that and your fingers are dry really quickly.
Lucas Oil for Hunters
Both McDonald and Rose are avid hunters. When they are not fishing during hunting season, chances are you will find them somewhere in the woods. They both rely on the Extreme Duty Gun Oil and Grease to protect their firearms.
“Lucas is working with major gun manufacturers to include it with gun purchases; because, they are seeing how good it is. It is heavy-duty and will protect and help everything from your hunting rifles to your more powerful weapons,” said
McDonald.
