Bethel Island, CA– The Northern WON BASS Pro-AAA circuit will be making its final stop of the season as it hits the California Delta this June 14 and 15th. Staged out of Russo’s Marina on Bethel Island, this 2-day event will be hitting the Delta at a prime time for huge largemouth bass. Expect weights in the 25 pound range daily with 50+ pounds anticipated to take the title.

Pro anglers will be competing for a guaranteed top prize of a fully rigged Nitro Z7 boat and trailer equipped with the hot new Mercury ProXS 175hp outboard motor, Lowrance electronics, Trojan Batteries, and MotorGuide TR82 trolling motor. All told, this is a guaranteed first place prize package valued at $31,000. Payback for all other places on the Pro and AAA side will be cash and based upon a 1in 5 payback.

Anglers will also be accruing double points at this event in determining the Northern Pro and AAA “Angler of the Year” point races. The Northern Pro Angler of the Year will receive a $7,250 prize package courtesy of Lowrance Electronics consisting of $4,000 in cash, Angler of the Year Cup, and paid entries into the 6 WON BASS Pro AM events for the 2009 season. Northern AAA Angler of the Year will receive a $3,600 package from Lowrance Electronics including $2,000 in cash and paid entries into the 6 WON BASS Pro Am events in 2009. Anglers will also accrue points to take into the US Open to determine the WONdering “Angler of the Year” point races worth $10,000 in Daiwa Cup money for the Pro’s and $3,000 in AAA Cup money on the amateur side.

WON BASS uses a shared weight format that encourages cooperation between both anglers on the boat. The Pro angler retains control of the boat and determines fishing locations and techniques while the AAA angler contributes to the overall catch. Anglers share the 5 fish limit weight for each day. Pro and AAA anglers change partners each day of competition.

The 2007 WON BASS Delta event saw Orinda California angler Zack Thompson best the field of 113 Pro fishermen to take home a first place prize of $24,000 in cash. Zack bested 2nd place angler Kyle Porter of Acampo by nearly 7 pounds! On the AAA side, Merlin Nunes took home just shy of $4,000 for his two-day, 45.54 weight.

As this is the final event of the Northern season, all competing anglers will be treated to thousands in raffle prizes from the WON BASS sponsors on Friday evening prior to the partner pairings. You must be in attendance to win.

Entry fees remain at $500 for pro anglers and $225 for AAA fishermen with $2,300 worth of daily Big Bass awards included in your entry fees. Other options such as a $50 Big stringer and $100 High Roller option are also available for those who chose to enter. AAA anglers wishing to enter should find a pro angler to sign up with to guarantee their entry into the Delta event. Deadline to enter for the Delta event is noon on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008. All anglers entering the contest are taken on a first come, first serve basis with Pro and AAA anglers who sign up together receiving guaranteed status.
