Youth Fishing Event June 8

San Diego – Chollas Lake, a San Diego Park and Recreation facility located at 6350 College Grove Dr. San Diego, CA 92115, will host a youth fishing derby on Saturday, June 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm.

This activity is designed to give boys and girls who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood. The lake will be stocked with catfish for the derby. Everything for the kids is free.
Event day onsite registration will begin at 8:00 am, the fishing session will go from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 PM, followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing.

The Department of Park and Recreation is presenting the event together with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation and the California Dept of Fish & Wildlife. Kids will be provided with loner rods & reels, tackle, and bait for those who don’t have their own, as well as assistance for those who need it.

The Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation puts on six of these events every year throughout Southern California. For more information about the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation you can visit their website at www.danskids.org.
