Re: Trinity area bass fishing question...
I would stick with trinity and go for the big smallies they have there. Nothing wrong with Whiskey Town, but its going to be real hot then. The North end of the lake has tailings- these are rubble piles made by mining. They are all over the place and a great place to fish,-- but watch your motor. Th...

Re: I kew I forgot something
Have your follow up on a flippin stick, with the same reel setup, and same line. If the fish misses your frog, and you throw back in their witha follow up bait, you'll need the same set up to get em out of there.

Re: A few other thoughts..on froggin
1) Split a sharpie pen, and run the first6-8 feet for the braid through it- colors the line black 2) Have a big/ wide/ strong net 3) Have a follow up bait ready to cast- I mean not on a guide hook, ready to cast. Some people will advocate throwing the frog right back at them when they miss, others s...

Some dude caught a 3.45lb bluegill at Diamond Valley
I was reading the fishing report this morning, and DVL pumped out a 3.45Lb bluegill>>> I would love to find a picture of that fish. I haven't checked the World record, but I should.
The dude surely fought like mad.

Taxidermist.. deer antlers into a letter opener
Does anyone know of a taxidermist who could turn some deer antlers into a letter opener?. A good guy from Houston asked me to help, so I thought I would ask, as I have read some posts re: bass replicas being done.
Thx-

Re: Catch and release
The other fun part of catching these fish on the glof course ( and I have permission to fish there), is seeing the golfers go nuts when she is reeling these big boys in. This pond is near the green, and the golfers always clap when I lip the fish for her. I am always a Captain Ahab, I think there is...

Re: Anyone ever fish Lahontan Res. outside Reno?
I haven't fished it, but I do know there is an incredible smallmouth lake up there. I believe it's on the way or near Northstar off of 80 leading to North shore.
I'll bet if you call Jon Walton @ Waltons Pond he would know, or steer you in the right direction.

New to Area,, any DVL 101 advise on lake layout?
Having never fished there, I was wondering if anyone had any basic lake layout info they could share.
No spots, just flats, vertical areas, north vs. south, east vs. west etc.
Thanks,
Tim

We lost a great friend, Tim Madden has passed away
I am sorry to report that our great friend Tim Madden is no longer with us. Tim passed on suddenly yesterday, and the funeral arrangements are being planned as I type this post. Once I have the details I can be contacted regarding the time and place. Tim is one of the finest people I have ever known...

What ever happened to...
Been awhile for me, as we have moved again, and this time to temecula (20 minutes to Diamond Valley). But I have an "old timer" observation. Is it just me, or have we moved on to other things, or are some of us just not as active in the fishing circuits as before. Being a West Coast Bass g...
