Armada 2x2 of 4x4?

Hello all, I am planning to purchase a boat, but before i need to get myself a truck :(... My question is, can I get a 2x2 or do I need a 4x4 to trail a bass boat? I am just contemplating since it cost 5k more for the 4x4. Thnx in advance :)
