Re: Declaring Clear Lake Hitch Threatened or Endangered

Dave,

I was not aware of that. And I think you're right, a limit aught to be set. My main focus was on any sort of commercial take, which has been banned. Here is an excerpt from the CBD petition: "Recent commercial fishery permits require release of hitch back into Clear Lake".

Re: Declaring Clear Lake Hitch Threatened or Endangered

Hey ya'll, I dont post or visit here much anymore, but I am finding myself particularly interested in this case as its unfolding. I have fished clearlake since the late 90's, and it has always been amongst my favorite bodies of water to spend time on. My grandfather built a cabin there in the 50's a...

I was thinking there is some hybridization going on too. I knew at my first sight of the fish in the net that it was not just a spot. Like I said before, I have seen/caught/captured for research with UC Davis ####tons of spotted bass. What is not captured well in this picture, was its coloration. Th...

Huge redeye (maybe?)

Pretty bad for a fisheries guy to post this, but we cant all be perfect... I caught this in a lake that I know has redeyes in it. It definitely was not just a run of the mill spotted bass. I know my bass pretty well, and have caught zillions of spots. I am not as confident with redeye identification...

Since it's been removed, hold onto it. There is a good chance they cost a pretty penny, and it will probably be very helpful to the Fisheries Biologist running the project. Plus, most biologists who are studying bass are fellow bass fishermen, so, you might make a friend :) I will shoot an e-mail to...

I think we are going to have a lot of big salmon this year. With the major decline in numbers recently, there are probably very low levels of competition amongst the individuals right now for food and other resources. Just a guess.

Anyone from Davis with extra space for my Champion? From tounge to prop its under 23ft. I just moved into a shady apt complex, its not very boat friendly. Does $30 a month sound decent?

I have a 135 opti and its great with the oil. I think it is a 2 gallon reservoir and it gets down to half-full after about 6 trips i would guess. Maybe more? I keep a 3 gallon reservoir at home and top it off occasionally, but basically I never even have to worry about it.
