Re: How to be sure?

Mark, the knots you mentioned are just that knots. In that case, when the braid tightens down around the mono or fluoro it will cut it. Try the sebile "knot". Its more along the lines of a Chinese finger-cuff "connection". at first it will be a little tricky to tie, especially wi...

Re: HDS Question

Ya I agree, getting the settings correct is tough.. I got it decent but I feel like it could be a lot better with the proper settings. I'm not sure what I had it at (boats not with me) but if I figure it out I'll let ya know. Anybody else got this dialed yet???

Re: HDS Question

I have the HDS 8 with structure scan on the console of my boat. Simply put, It's AMAZING. No more guessing whats down there. If you graph a tree, it looks like a tree, grass looks like grass and so on. This is a great tool to use when looking for a certain type of structure, or to see what kind of s...

Re: FLW Shasta - Best place to eat in town?

Try RCS. Its a smaller place located on the west side of I-5 (you can see it off the freeway) kind of across from phils. They serve American food, burgers, steaks, ribs, etc.. They make one mean burger and you better bring your appetite.

I'm not sure what the differences are but I have had my hands on the new stuff at cabelas and it is quite a bit "stiffer"
either way I don't think you can go wrong with guide wear apparel.

Re: Swimbait Reel Question

It really just depends on what type of swimbaits your going to be throwing. If your going to start off with paddle tails and swimbaits like the mission fish a low pro reel will work just fine. When you begin throwing large swimbaits like Huds, BBZs, baitsmiths, etc.. You will want to use a round ree...

Re: UPS Help!!!!!

It was shipped UPS. sorry for the incorrect lingo, the tube was supposed to be in phoenix wednesday and disappeared somewhere on the way. Tube was insured for 4k. Bad part is that some of the rods are kind of irreplaceable. But the good news is that powell rods are only 119$ in arizona! Definitely a...

Re: FROGS (Hook Set?)

Throwing a frog is inherent with missing fish, everyone does. The first time i got my dad on a good frog bite he missed 20-25 good strikes in a row. The best thing to do is every time you miss a fish that actually ate the frog, remember what you did and do SOMETHING different on the next blow up. Wh...

White and black are absolutely staples no matter where you are throwing a frog, but greens also have a place in my arsenal. Especially on the delta during the begining of frog season. Cicada, snag proof?

Re: Is there a more useless tool made

Mac,
I have found the same thing as you. Split ring pliers suck, from the 4 dollar model tothe 20 dollar model. The best way i have found is to let your thumbnails grow out for a few days and use them! Just dont do to many hooks in one day, your nails will be offer sore if you do.

the powell 734c is my favorite, light enough in the tip to load up and properly pull threw grass and strong enough in the butt section to set the hook and manage fish out of heavy cover..

Re: Wanted: Trolling Motor and Launch Training!

If backing the boat is what bothers you, practice with any type of trailer.. the shorter the trailer you can find to practice with the better, it will be much more difficult than that of a 20 foot bass boat. As far as the trolling motor part, maybe ask your pro if you can put around at the end of th...

Hey, I also live in reno and there are a ton of lakes to fish within 2.5 hours.. Definitely check out oroville, folsom, the Ca delta, clearlake, on the tactics side: soft plastics such as drop shot, senko, wacky rig, shakey head and split shotting should catch you a ton of fish! good luck Denny Gold...
