Re: Need help with a recipe for some yellow tail
Yellowtail tastes great on its own and really doesn't need much in the way of seasoning/marinade. I usually just brush with oil, grind some salt/pepper on it and cook it fast on high heat. It has a reasonably strong flavor; you may like to marinate it a bit (10-15 mins) if you don't like the fish ta...

Re: Does anyone on here know St. Croix Rods in and out?
Thats the crumby part about custom rods...you break it and you only get a blank back. For most higher end manufacturers nowadays, you break the rod and for $30-$50 bucks you have a new stick from your retailer.

Re: BPS Tungston weights junk!!!!!
I don't particularly support/care for BPS, but I will say this. If you have a problem with one of their products, they will likely give your money back or replace it no questions asked. Then again, so will my local tackle shop. Did the insert feel rough on the outside of the weight from the get go? ...

Re: Strongest Flourocarbon knot?
San Diego knot, period. +1 ... Palomar knots cut onto itself. Low impact/shock strength. If you don't believe that, tie and overhand knot and do a slow pull ... then a jerk ... 20# test will snap like it is 4# test. Then you are tying it wrong. There are several ways to screw up a Palomar knot. Occ...

Re: this is bs
His rubber bait keeper looks exactly like Roboworm's Rebarb hooks - which may very well be patented, hence him not offering it on his hooks. Unfortunately Roboworm only does Rebarb on very thin wire hooks.

Re: Berkley Fireline Braid
I use to use it a lot for small plastics on spinning. It looks more natural in the water than your standard braid. That said I only used up to 14lb so its a little different than using 30-50lb Power Pro. Good stuff though - I think it has a truer and more consistent rating than most of the braids. A...

I always thought it would come on a live crawdad but the mussel issue seems to have put an end to that possibility.smpboy wrote:i bet if live bluegill and trout where allowed in California the record would be blown away.Guy Williams wrote:Live bait, way to go!!

FOOD in the Valley, is mostly shipped overseas such as Japan, Korea, Tiawan, Phillippins etc....Over there in those countries they just don't have the space (population) nor the technology(s) that we have. Right know, there are more containers going out of the Oakland/Richmond/Stockton Ports loaded...

Otay Michael wrote:That shot WAS of the WR, held by a neighbor and his kid before teh Perry clan ate it. Look at it's size, a dead giveaway. There are no shots of Perry with though, true enough.
Where does that pic come from? Everything I have ever read states there is no pics of Perry's WR bass in existence.

Re: Replacement tail for AC minnow
OK, I have a couple AC minnows and for the life of me I have ZERO confidence in them. First they dont seem to wake for me until right at the boat. Is there a different retrieve I should try beyond a straigt reel back? It seems no matter how fast or slow I reel em in they crank down and do not wake?...

To further confuse the issue - most of the produce (FOOD) you get at the market comes from Mexico. If you buy local, it comes from real local. Not exactly sure where all the Central Valley food goes. A good history of California water issues is Cadillac Desert. In past times, when the population was...

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck soft plastic baits?
Try a few packs of Roboworm's rebarb hooks (I prefer the Daichi over the ultra thin Gammys). Does less damage to the worm on the hook set, and the barb allows you to keep fishing a pretty torn up worm. Scent wise Hot Sauce works very well and one application can pretty much hold you over until the ...
