Re: Buying a used Boat
These are sad times when someone has to resort to schemes like this, but I suppose it's really nothing new. Sadder still if someone actually falls for them. Too bad craigslist and ebay don't (can't?) do anything about it. Thanks again to all that responded. This is what DOESN'T SUCK about this site!...

Buying a used Boat
One of my fishing buddies found an incredible offer on a 2003 bass boat. Knowing that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is, so I thought I'd seek advice from the many experts on this forum. Thomas wants me to go with him to look at it and take it for a test ride. Unfortunately, this week ...

Re: 80# Fluoro
Yeah, once I saw the diameter of this 80# stuff, I started thinking "overkill" too. I think it's simply for the abrasion resistance to the teeth - my biggest muskie, 48", was caught on 10# mono. I tried some 30# last year and even the small pike shredded it (my fingers, too). One of t...

Western Arm of Eagle Lake. Our camp is Stanley's, about 3-4 miles west of Vermillion Bay. I highly recommend it if you ever are going for pike, muskie, lake trout, walleye and smallies. Headed to Pike & Muskie country - Ontario - on Tuesday. After reading some articles on using 80# fluoro instead of steel or titanium leaders, I thought I'd give it a try. This stuff is just like what I use in my weed eater. Any suggestions on knots? Braid to leader, or terminal tackle in between?

Feathered Trebles on Jerkbaits
Getting ready for my annual Canadian trip and gearing up - hard! A thought came to mind while putting new hooks on my hardbaits. Some of my suspending (or even floating for that matter) jerkbaits have a feathered treble on the tail. On the pause, the hook sinks. I was thinking that a more natural pr...

I just used the last of a certain color of senko that were given to me. It's a dark chocolate brown - I call it my tootsie roll bait. Of all the senkos I've tried, this color, by a landslide, outcatches the others I've tried. Anybody know what the color code or name is? The next time I reload w/ Cab...

Most units will show suspended shad schools when traveling 15 to 20 mph on plane, with shoot through hull mounted TD's. You need to manually set you ping speed to 75 for a starting point and adjust the sensitivety to where you have some light clutter on the screen. I have a Lowrance X-97. It's a pr...

The boat's a Boston Whaler. I don't think you can shoot through those hulls can you? It's your transducer that limits what speed you can graph... if you have a through-hull 'ducer glassed in, you can read up to WOT.

Re: How do you like to fish soft jerkbaits/flukes?
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention - with the spinning rig, it's really easy to skip these baits under overhanging trees and docks, once you get the hang of it. (Sometimes it's too easy and the bait will skip into the branches or over the dock if you're not careful.)

Re: How do you like to fish soft jerkbaits/flukes?
jazz depending on the depth you are trying to fish, you can use weighted hooks, but most are too heavy and affect the action. I like braided line because it floats, then use different weights inside the bait to find the right drop. You can buy weights, but i find its much cheaper to take penny nails...
