No few if any sunfish are including bass. I believe Sacramento perch are the only native sunfish family to California. Red Ears are wide spread in California, not a new non native fish.

West coast anglers don’t support B.A.S.S. by coming to the events visiting sponsors or weigh ins.
The 2026 Elites have a lot of MLF anglers now, should help viewers watching the derbies.

Cooch used a lot of blue/brown color TNT Wadda Jog, basically a flatter Arkie head with fine strand weed guard. Big fan of a few Flashabou strands in jog skirts for UV color reflection.

Re: Wintertime Structure fishing
Credit my Viper jig for every giant bass I caught during winter/early pre spawn at Castiac and Casitas. Top 5 are 17.4 lbs, 17.4 lbs, 17.6 lbs, 18.6 lbs and 19.3 lbs over a 14 year period 1981 to 1995. Still occasionally big bass but the giants are very rare today.
Hope you catch a new PB

Arkie head design with fiber guard is the traditional jig for brush cover. In 1971 I designed my Viper jig to work in steep rocky sparse cove lakes where I fish. The Viper head doesn’t have a weed guard! What I use is a spring to hold a 1 1/2” split tail finesse worm to protect the hook point attach...

Don’t know about marks hooking setting technique, mine is a reel set and rod sweep. When I detect a strike I tend to keep my rod tip down feeling the line for any changes in pressure or movements. Re: LMB & Crappie
My question is about today’s BFS casting rods and reels. I used spinning rods and reels with line under lb test because 35 years ago the spool tolerances could pinched line under .009 D. Don Iovino’s “tuned” 2500C with Phenix Doodling rid was the combo I used for decades for light line bait casting....

I give Don Iovino credit to start using his tuned 2500C reeks, Phenix Doddle rod and 5 lb Maxima UG line with small finesse lures. Don made a good living with his finesse fishing. 1st & foremost don’t fizz a bass unless you are in a tournament. Simply put a 8 oz torpedo weight tied on another rod, put the weight into the bass mouth past the crunchers and lower the bass back down 30’ and reel up the the weight. Fizzing through the mouth you are not going through the crunch...

What 36V TM are you getting? Some 36V TM will run on 24V setting.
Batteries in series should be the same mfr and age, cranking battery separate from the electronics. With lithium you need a charger for 36V marine battery.

Your TD should take time to demonstrate the proper method to fizz a bass. The mouth method isn’t a good idea, vital organs in that area. Laying the bass on its side and needling it below the lateral line works, it takes about 30:seconds. The needle hole doesn’t inflate the air bladder, it’s under pr...

Today’s boats all have GPS that records everything and the OB computer records the rpm’s the engine ran, not to:difficult to determine speed during the tournament hours. What will be difficult is setting a speed limit.

200mph boats are not rare race boats, they're expensive, but available to anyone. The average Dave Custom Boats (DCB) run 150-175mph with Merc inboards. Do a youtube search. A bass boat running at 70mph is not extreme and in this case 67mph is not considered excessive. Again, boating accidents are ...
