Re: Rain gear
in CA you're better off sticking to non-insulated and occasionally wearing layers. It does not get cold enough, long enough in most of CA to get much use out of insulated rain gear. Cabelas Guide Wear has been my choice for 25+ years

Re: Best moon phase for night fishing?
I’m sure there’s others with more night time experience but I always found 3-5 days before or after a full moon to be best at night. Popular opinion suggests fishing the full moon but the full moon itself was typically pretty slow for me; too bright out Butch Brown has said he’s never done well (day...

Assuming everything is sound, I’d probably just find some type of stick on spacer or wedge to take up space. Are you positive It’s the hitch itself and not the surge brake tongue of the trailer? Sometimes the tongue springs inside ranger trailers need to be replaced and you’ll get a loud slapping an...

Yes, Don Osborne won the first one a Casitas with a 10+ at his first spot and possibly on his first cast. There was one on the Delta; I don’t remember who won but my old team partner Guyle came in second and got the side option $. There was also one at Clear but I can’t remember much about that one.

Both! Why limit yourself? Buzzbait can be fished through grass better and can be extra noisy with clackers....in open water I'd lean towards the trebles especially if they're just slashing at it. When the top water bite is really slow early or late in the season, I have more confidence in the buzz. ...

It's all personal preference. For me, the 744 is better suited for 5" & 6" senkos. I like a little more horsepower and would opt for the 745 (or even your heavier flip/punch rods) for a the 7". You're using a larger and thicker gauge hook and the extra tip power will help drive th...

Try a DWR treatment like Revivex or Nikwax first, those are designed to keep your suit breathable... may or may not work well but worth a shot. If those don't work you could also try a silicon based spray like Sno-Seal Extreme, Scotchgaurd, or Kiwi which will do a great job of making your suit water...

Cabelas Guide Wear is great. I'm on my second set and would recommend them. But here's the real deal, no rainsuit made with Gortex (or similar breathable material) is truly waterproof. It's the Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating on the material that keeps water out and the DWR will eventually wea...

Seems like getting a quality used boat with warranty might be the best way to go. Yes it is.
