Wow an old post revived. Our buddy Cooch even made a post on this one. He's definitely missed!! Jerkbaits are a year around technique but it's a must have on the boat in winter and spring. Deadly as the water first starts to warm after the winter and through the spawn. There's not a lot of guys that...

Great lake. It's not as easy as it used to be. The lake is small and it's taken a lot of pressure the last 4-5 years. It's still the best big Spot lake around. I don't have much time on Bullards in Sept-Oct but it can be great top water bite. Super Spook out of the points and steeper rock walls up t...

Bubba shotting is a deadly technique on Cal Delta. I use the Re-Barb hook only. It's a Gamakatsu hook that Robo Worm takes and puts a keeper on it. It's the best. I use a 4/0 the most. You'll do better with a slightly slower rod for an A-Rig. Most of us are throwing braid anyway so there's no line stretch. The main reason for a slightly slower rod is it's much easier to "load and cast" these than a really fast action rod. It will be a lot less work on the angler. Plus if...

This may be dumb but I've done it this way forever. I stick hook point into my boat carpet on a compartment lid. I let the bait hang straight down and dry. I don't push hook past the barb, just the hook point so no carpet damage. Simple and maybe lazy way but it does work.
