You can find both battery operated bow and stern lights at either wal-mart or target. They are a C-type clap. I've used both lights on my 14 foot and the bow light on a buddies Ranger on the delta, they work get.

I also have a 14 ft. aluminum, I have a 45 lb motorguide and i've fished the delta and Clear Lake and have not had any problems getting around during winds. Just stay off the main body during the higher winds and waves and you should be fine.

I haven't been lately but I hear its not been that difficult to catch fish. I have a small 14' with a 8 horsepower motor and I have gone to Las Tables many times, hell i've even gone up the narrows, of course it takes a little longer but that just allows more time to enjoy the scienrie. I have a 2006 extended cab Tundra and love it...I pull a ranger and have never had any trouble on any hill going up or down. As for your plug problem, i had the same one and just went to Autozone or Napa and bought the coversation plug.

It is a bait caster...I have used it for drop-shotting Orville, but really didn't like the feel for it. I'll try small crank baits or small tubes and see if its worth keeping in the boat.

I have a rod I bought a couple years ago that i don't use and i'm not really sure what to use it for.

Might be a stupid question but....does a rod really go bad? I understand that the eyes will break or the gromets within the eyes sometimes need replaced, or the threds on the reel hold done go bad....

All these suggestions will work and I launch my boat alone lots. I would add one thing that some boaters forget at times. Get your boat ready in the parking lot. Un-strap what you can, put plug in, etc. etc. It just amazes me how often I see boaters doing this at the ramp and delaying the rest of us...
