Re: Rod Building?
Fun Hobby!! I use a book for a tensioner. Put two V shapes in base boards to use as a rod rest; put the whole thing on another long board so I slide the v blocks back and forth as I want. My rod dryer is a BBQ motor mounted on a wood block; the bbq tine thing goes on a cut off spit and mounts in the...
Guide placement
Goofed on the first reply. OK, the guides determine where the stress and bend is placed on the rod. More rods=more even. I suggest you go to Mudhole Tackle web site on rod building. There is a lot there under guide placement.

Re: What has happened to Cachuma? To many things it could be
In my humble opinion, I think the lake is just too damn full of food. The fish are gorged on minnows, etc. I see grebes sitting around with a minnow hanging out of their mouth; too full to swallow? Regular guy up there claims only fish coming on jerkbaits (wounded baitfish?). The trout fishing was g...

Got my check for $62.55 today. Mailed it the day of the big decision to close. Nice letter from the staff at Casitas also. Stated that the "staff and Board of Directors" were working on the issue. Perhaps they will follow the Cachuma example? They closed it but don't have to stick with the...

I took my 10 yr old Ranger alum in on Sat, Feb 10. Had loose tag ends and hard boil egg shells in the boat, stains, etc. My live wells are plugged for extra storage. No problem getting in. Everything was very dry though, I hadn't been out in a while. Gate guy and gal were pleasant and courteous. Jim G

I did the same night fishing thing. When I checked in at the snack bar, they gave me a outdated approx 2.5 by 5 slip of glossy paper advertising something. They told me to put it on my dash. Seemed dumb but I did it. No ticket. Appeal it, you have your name and #'s on the sign in sheet. Good luck!!

I have used 6 and 8 flouroclear for a year or so and had some break problems. I like the stuff though. Supple and I think I get bit a lot. Appreciate the responses. I had made it overly complicated. Didn't think bed fishing was likely with the visibility so poor and later in year. I see guys on boats up in the reeds right now at Cachuma. I am not sure what and how they are fishing though. I am not seeing a lot of fish on the flats and its too murky to sight fish so my curiousity is up! Any ideas? I don't fish tourneys so come on, give it up!! LOL!
