Re: US Open 2011
Great job to all involved in this tournament. Kudos go to all the anglers who fished it as well.
"The US Open" and yet, very skimpy media attention on a national level. Why?
It'll be interesting to learn about the techniques and baits used during the derby.

Lots of them. It's best to check the WON Bass website for the live blog they have going. There is a lot of movement and early reports of varied techniques used to catch them today.

Joe Jr. weighed in around 4lbs. Although not enough to win, the kid can flat out fish! Nice work Joe Jr.!

Re: US Open 2011
This is it! It's going to be a close finish and the weights are impressive for "Mead!"
Not much controversy this year. Good.
I'd also like to see Joe Jr. get the win.
BTW: I hope they keep the US Open at Lake Mead!

Talk about a close field! This ought to get real interesting tomorrow.
Lots of smallmouths being weighed in.
Anyone care to predict who will be the 2011 US Open Champ?

Re: HDS5 Depth?
UPDATE: As you know I've been struggling with getting a proper "read" of depth on my HDS5/ LSS-1 hardware. Well, I did end up taking my boat back to the dealer and they solved the problem. I am now enjoying the unit with the Structure Scan and it's working. I learned they had to move the t...

Re: HDS5 Depth?
Ken, At the risk of sounding like a complete "tool" here, can you tell me if, in your opinion, both the 83/200 khz Broadband and the LSS-1 can be wired to work on the HDS5 at the same time? I guess I want the best of both scenarios. I understand about the air bubbles/turbulance and will tr...

Re: HDS5 Depth?
Thanks again Ken, Spoke with the Dealer who informed me the Structure Scan Transducer should be able to handle all of the HDS5 settings and configurations and a second Broadband ducer should not be needed. They further suggested the position of the SC Transducer may be an issue here. I'll attempt to...

Re: HDS5 Depth?
Thanks Ken,
The Dealer says they mounted the Structure Scan transducer where they always do. It may be a problematic unit. I'll continue trying to dial it in. Do you recommend using "Default settings" to start over?

HDS5 Depth?
Hey Ken, I recently purchased both the HDS5 for the console and HDS8 for the bow with Structure Scan. I have tried to dial in both units and encountered a problem with the HDS5 with respect to reading accurately the depth I'm in when traveling above idle speed. I don't need to tell you how important...

Re: Best price out there on Goodyear Marathon tires
I too have had a horrible experience with the Goodyear Marathon Tires. Three blowouts with two of them costing me plenty of damage. It gets expensive. I have a single axle trailer and there isn't much time to get to the shoulder of the road before the tires start to disintegrate with what's left of ...

Re: Genmar files Chapter 11: so you wanna be a pro?
Say what you want to about it. All I know is I'm not buying any large ticket item during this tough economic period!! NO WAY! I'm quite sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'll sit this one out and watch from the sidelines. I guess my old boat doesn't look that bad afterall.

Re: Rough Water- Boat Handling During a Tournament?
This kind of information will help me become a better boater. I will say that I encountered rough water at Casitas about 2 yrs. ago during a club tournament and I really struggled. The incident was costly! I wasn't hurt but the repair cost was over $4K!! A roller slammed me into the dock as I tried ...

Rough Water- Boat Handling During a Tournament?
I read the posts about "rough water conditions" caused by weather changes and severe conditions caused by wind, during a tournament. Could some of you more experienced "boaters" offer any suggestions about how to navigate a bass boat in rough water? I'm probably not the only one ...

Re: Only in California. (NFR)
As an educator in a public school I vehemently object to the suggestion that this kind of rubbish should be taught in schools! There is no place in public education for this. Teachers already have enough responsibility and our State Standards drive our curriculum. We do not need to change them again...
