Re: Tail Spinners
I am not an expert but I either drop it strait down and jig it up and down or make a long cast wait for it to hit the bottom the lift up, let it drop reel in the slack and repeat. Hope it helps.

Mcspin
Buy yourself some Mcspin's.
Spend some time graphing around looking for bait.
Throw the hunk of lead as far as you can.
Lift the rod off the bottom a couple feet and let it fall.
Use this pumping retrieve all of the way back to the boat.
Most fish will eat on the fall.
Good luck!

Markey's has a tailspin in 1oz and 1/2 oz. They are dynamite at DV and Castaic. 1/2oz greenshad is hot.
Cast it out and let it hit bottom. Slow roll about 8 cranks and let it drop - count to 3 slowly and crank a little bit, let it fall. The swivel on this thing allows for extremely slow rolls and rapid retrieves. It swims like a little fish at either speed too. It's just a great little bait.
I also like to cast out past a bait ball and slow roll it under the ball or through it, trying to let it fall just under the bait ball. Strike zone.

Re: Tail Spinners
Does Markey's have a website? I saw their products at the Bassathon but didn't buy anything.

Yes, it's not updated with the new colors or the new products. Their tailspinner is at Angler's and a few other dealers. Or you can email from the website to inquire. basscatcher.com
Re: Tail Spinners
I fish the MCSPIN the way Brian does. I cast the MCSPIN as far out as I can cast it and lift the rod and use the pumping retrieve. My son and I have caught limits at Castaic lake in 60 feet of water by dropping them straight down and slow raising them off the bottom. The biggest fish to date is a 9+ caught by Jonathon from Angler's Marine. It was caught at lake Pyramid in a club tournament. I have 20 colors available at Angler's Marine in Anaheim.
Good Luck
