Thinking of changing the prop to my motor any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is what i have.
Yr. 2002 20ft Cobra Viper with a 2005 Evinrude 225 hp ficht, it has a 14 and a half by 24 pitch prop at the moment , it runs 68-69 mph at 5800. I just want to know if anyone has a similar set up and what prop size they are running, also what brand prop is best for that motor.
Fury,Tempest,Trophy or Raker??? Any thoughts or Suggestions???
Please post or u can text me at

I'm not real familiar with that hull, but you're close on the RPMs. Rakers are fast props. Assuming it's not set too low and in good shape, there might not be much more. I liked the Powertech TR04 25p on my FICHT/Stratos rig. If you're happy with your hole shot, I wouldn't spend much money chasing something that might not be there.

I'm not familiar with Cobra/Viper Hull, but my 20 ft Stratos with 225 Ficht HO turned a 26 Raker without a problem. Better all around prop though was a 27 Renegade four blade.

I played around with the Renegade too before I settled on the TR04. If you're turning a 24 Raker at 5800, a 27 Renegade will be way too much.

I have a 2001 javelin (Stratos) with a 225 evinrude . I run a 26 pitch raker and the boat runs low 70s all day

Nobody asked the most important ? Do you have a jack plate. I have a 21' 10 year old Stratos with a 225 HO. With a 6 " manual jack plate it run 75-76. I had Phil's make a 14.5 26 pitch prop to as close to a 27 as they could. No hole problems. You need to raise the motor & get a steeper prop. Manual jack plates are great. Test & set once & your good to go & will pick up 6-8 mph with the right prop.
