IMO "Junk"! I bought a new 109 Motorguide with the Kipawa prop for my 488vs (going from a Min-Kota 74) and I hated it! It had about the same thrust, but sucked in the weeds! I could not understand why a 109 with this $50 new prop wasn't as good as my old 74! So Just for fun I took off the Kipawa prop and put the 3 blade stock prop on and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! This thing make a wake behind the boat on high, and cuts right through the weeds. I'm happy now. So if you still want to buy one, I'll sell you one.

I agree with mike! Spend the $$ on 3 Lucky Craft Baits. Better Investment. I also have one I'll sell you.

I agree with Mike and Manuel. I bought one for myself for my 74 lb minnkota and I hate it. I believe it's harder on your batteries because of the larger blades and the prop that came with my minnkoto will pull my boat at a higher speed. As for going through weeds I can't tell any difference. Oh you can buy mine to if you want.

George, I purchased a couple a few months back for my Motorguide. I haven't been to impressed, I drove all the way from Modesto to New Melones becuase they were the only ones with them in stock in Northern Ca at the time and I HAD to have one before Clear Lake. I would save your cash and stick with the stock prop.
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

I do not normally get caught up in all this hussle and bustle BUT.....

I have one on my Minn Kota and it is the bomb!
Dont let a few a opinions ( and I stress OPINIONS) sway your decision.........it cuts thru the thick stuff more than any other blade out there. And NO I am am NOT sponsered by them.
Be your own man and invest in one.

Have to agree with BassinReed. Love mine. I have a 54 lb MG on a 17' Ranger and it pulls it all around with plenty of power and battery life to spare. I especially like how the prop tends to "power-up" when you hit the switch instead of being instant on. It only takes a second to come up to speed but it makes a lot less noise and doesn't throw you out of the boat! Found that when using it in weeds (Delta) that you are better off running it on high for quick spurts, but that's true for the regular props too.

I note that the replys that favor the Kipawa prop seem to involve trolling motors that have a lower thrust. Any thoughts on that? I just purchased the prop for my 107 motorguide and have not yet put it on.

I carry a kippawa and the stock prop for my motorguide 109 in open water I use the stock prop and in shallow weedy water I use the kippawa. The kippawa pulls my 21ft triton through some thick stuff and it has suprised me more than once but on the down side it vibrates a little in open water so when I go to the lakes I use the stock prop. Look at it this way it never hurts to carry a spare so why not a kippawa? just my .o2!

I think there are a lot of variables at work here. I first put mine on a 74# Motorguide 24 volt, I then bought a 80# Minn Kota I got another one hoping that my old MG was just tired and would not spin the prop correctely. Unfortunatley same results. I think it is the same priniciple as over proping or under proping your big motor. Condition of batteries, weight of boat, condition of wiring?
I bought mine because a friend was satisfied with his( 107# MG). Just because I wasn't doesn't mean much. The right tool for the right job, not much in this life is 100% (except for my grand kids!)
