WesternBass.Com loses a dear friend

Post by sTony »

It's with a heavy heart that I let all nutcases know that we lost a dear close friend this evening. Bob Wager or Bigun as we all came to know him, passed away this evening at San Francisco Kaiser Hospital. Bigun had been battling ailments for a long time. Memorial Service will be Thursday, 7 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church, Concord.

Hopefully he's living large in heaven and catching keepers on every cast. I will miss you my friend.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. While I did not know him very well, it was readily apparent his heart was huge and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Bob was a very fine gentleman. From the first time I met him at the Clear Lake Rally in about 2002 til last year he would always speak and had a smile. My prayers are with his wife and family. Bill K

Bob will be missed by those of us he left behind. But, Bob was also a man of great religious conviction and I am sure he is with his Lord now. He once told me he didn't fear death itself...he only feared leaving his wife alone. I don't think I've ever met a man with a better disposition towards his fellow man. He truly will be missed!

I had the privilege and honor of knowing Bob when he was president and I was a member of the Contra Costa Bass Club. I fished with him several times and last saw him at the Rally in Clearlake. It was good to talk to him and I am glad we made the rally so we got to see him and his wife. He was a class act and will be greatly missed on the Delta and in the Northern California fishing scene.

All the best to his family.

I had the pleasure of having Bob in my boat at one of the rallies we had at McClure. Bob was responsible for getting me the Numb Nuts award that day for a goof up I did.

We both had a good laugh when in the last 5 minutes of our time fishing together I figured I didn't have a chance with my one 3lbr in the boat so I released her back, picked up my rod that was already cast out and instantly hooked into another 3lbr, which I promptly released... Duhh!!

Thanks for the memories my friend, you will be missed..

I first met Bob in 1991 when I formed the Contra Costa Bass Club, Bob was one of our original founding members. It is with great sadness to hear of his passing, he will be dearly missed. Bob was a great friend to everyone around him and a great inspiration to us all through his years of battling his heart troubles. As Dean mentioned, his religious beliefs were his life, and he feared nothing in letting us all know that. I respected this man so much for that. May he live as large in the Kingdom of the Lord, as he lived here among us. And may God bless and share His love with Bob's family through these tough times.
