Angler's Choice Southwester Pro-Am Circuit TOC information

Post by Guest »

For Immediate Release
Brentwood, CA

U.S. Angler's Choice is preparing for the inaugural season of the Southwest Pro Ams which are due to start in less than a month. With 3 events scheduled, two on Lake Mead and one on Lake Havasu, Angler's Choice is offering the Southwestern Angler a Pro-Am trail that is close to home, has outstanding paybacks and the possibility of winning three boats.

Due to unknown numbers of participants and the highest payback for any Western Pro-Am circuit, the Southwest Pro-Ams Tournament of Champions is currently scheduled to be a joint event with the Northwest Pro-Am Tournament of Champions giving away one boat for the overall winner. This event will be held on the California Delta in March of 2007. However, if the Southerwestern Pro-Ams tournaments average 125 boats per event then a separate Tournament of Champion with a boat for the winner will be held in March of 2007 in the Southwest.

Vice President of Angler's Choice Region 2 Vern Price said, "We are dealing with an unknown here, we don't know what kind of turnout we are going to get for these events. We have offered the best payback anywhere in the west for a Pro-Am circuit which means we have to have a high number of angler's in order to be able to fund a separate TOC in the Southwest." Vern went on to say, "Angler's Choice has answered the call of the Southwestern Anglers, who have asked for a new Pro-Am circuit with great paybacks. We have done just that, and now we have to sit back and see if the angler's are ready for it. With the base of the anglers coming from our Colorado River Team Trail which averaged over 60 boats last season and over 70 boats at the first team event this season, we truly expect a good turnout. This has us believing that we can bring in the number of boats to provide the Southwestern anglers their own TOC next March, right here in the Southwest."

Tom I'm interested in fishing the pro-am's and have read the rules. Is this a shared weight tournment or catch your own.

......thanks kickerken.

Glad to hear you are interested in it.

Although the SW PRO-AM TOC is up in the air... The single event paybacks are still through the roof.. Something like 120% payback with 150 boats... Less boats and the payback will be above that in percentage! There's a good thread on the North Board about that.

Hey did I mention how much I LOVE SUNLINE Now.

I can't Thank You enough for turning me on to that stuff. Defier is Unmatched! The Shooter, well lets say I am on 27 fish without a retie... I am going for 100 before I retie! With 12 LB test Flourocarbon on Clear Lake and no breakoffs... that is insane! :) Quality fish too.. some in the 4-5 lb range...

Shhhh, but I am trying to stick every fish in Clear Lake before the Stren event! :) That way Clear Lake fishes just like Havasu did! :) ha ha ha Just playin

Well Thanks Tom. I am glad you like the line. The Defier is unmatched. Also the Shooter is incredible. I think that there is no other Fluro to match it.
Stick 'em all Tom.

Hey Murph you can go to A/C Pro Shop and get it on line. They carry all the Sunline products. I like F/C Sniper and the Shooter. Both are fluro lines.

So is there a fish-off at Castaic or not? Please advise. Is it there only if you draw 125 boats per event? Rick G.

If we get 125 boat average for the 3 events, there will be a fish off at Castaic. Otherwise, if there are less than 125 boat average there will not be a Southern Pro AM TOC. If that happens, the qualifiers will be invited to fish at the Northern TOC.

With the BEST paybacks of any Pro/Am trail at 120% payback 125 boats isn't that much to ask for. If we can't do that then consider it much more along the lines of the other trails with No TOC with the exception that you could come to the Delta in 2007 if you wanted!

Hey Tom I am not sure what the draw will be if 125 or maybe less. The reason being is that you have come out with this circuit so late compared to the 2 other circuits. I know I plan on fishing and I also know a few others that are but many people have already made there schedule for the year and it can be tough to try to get more time off from work for them. I hope the avg. is 125 so we can go to Castaic but if it is just under I hope Mark will let us do it there anyway.

I am sure if we can get some good turn-outs.. 100+ every event.. we might be able to twist Mendez's arm!!

I have heard from quite a few guys.. I'd be surprised if we weren't close to 125.... the Colorado River Region is strong for us! We get some of you So-Cal guys to meander out to the River and we might be in business!

Most of our customers were excited about a Castaic fishoff with only 50 boats. That was a big incentive to fish. Hope they stick with the original plan. Rick G.
