OK I have to get this off my chest. After arguing with many JERKS Saturday out at folsom.
Just because there are 2 people on a boat that does not mean they both know how to drive the boat. If you are in such a big hurry that you can't wait at the launch like everyone else then STAY HOME! Not to mention KIDS don't drive boats. Your out there to have fun not piss and moan and groan cause you have to wait 10 minutes to get your precsious @$$ off the water.
I was out there with my son ( 2years old) and a friend who has only been on a boat a handfull of times, people were bitching at me and the guy in front of me who was out fishing with 2 young kids, ( too young to drive a boat if people open there eyes before there mouth!) people were yelling at both of us cause we had to tie our boats to the dock while we went and picked up our trucks. I had to tell one guy to watch his mouth around my kid before he has a foot in it!
With that said Folsom needs to do something about that Terrible launch at granite bay when the water is this low! Fishing was terrible to boot, must need to be on the water early AM for a decent bite!
Not everybody knows how to drive a boat

These fools were the minority...
HOWEVER.... I will say that it is extremely aggravating to see people that are in your situation that complicate the issue by not knowing how to drive a truck either. We have standards set in law to get a drivers licence, but there is no such requirement to go out and buy a boat and use it the first day. I have 2 small children that do not drive a boat or truck and it still takes no longer to get in or out than if I were by myself. It drives me insane to see people try to back all the way from the top of the ramp instead of driving head first down the ramp and pulling a u-turn and backing the shortest distance possible. I have taught my wife to do this and she mastered it FIRST TIME OUT!!!!There is no truck/boat combo I have seen launched at Granite Bay that cannot take advantage of this. I regularly go by myself to that ramp and get in or out in less than 5 minutes (except during the heat of summer). While I share your frustration with those inpatient fools, I understand their side of the problem too. As a tournament director for the FOLSOM BASS LEAGUE, we pride ourselves in getting 40-45 boats in the water ready for blastoff in less than 15 minutes. That equals out to about 3 boats per minute hitting the ramp. if anyone wants a lesson on quick launching, go watch a launch line at the next FBL event on March 12th. See ya out there.

Re: These fools were the minority...
I agree Scott. I don't back all the way down but have seen many do it. In a tourney it is more understandable as EVERYONE should know what they are doing! All I needed was less then 5 minutes to go get my truck, I don't need the dock to trailer the boat!
The bad part is it really discouraged my buddy from ever wanting to get a boat!

Re: Not everybody knows how to drive a boat
I have a complaint too not about trailering but about jerks that decide the bank some one is already fishing is the spot they want to fish too. My buddy his brother and I were fishing berryessa sunday the lake was pretty much open game saw only a hand full of boats yet 3 decide to fish the same bank we were starting 200 yards if that further down the bank in the direction we were fishing to. Its really irratating that people cut others off a shoreline like that. However we got the last laugh pulling way more fish off the bank than the knuckle heads that decided to cut us off so HAH! :p

It doesn't help...
that the idiots over at the Bureau of Reclaimation have drained Folsom to obscene levels for this time of year. Folsom is now 30 feet lower than it was one year ago. Considering we had a much better snow/rain year last year we can be sure that the policy makers over at the Bureau have screwed Folsom up for another summer. look for the lake to be empty before Labor day and the folks who have boats at Browns to get their pull slips in mid-August. We should be launching over at the long ramp just North of the slot ramp, but no the idiots over at the Bureau have seen fit to keep Folsom at a level that makes launching at Granite a challenge for all but the super experienced. Good luck out there nad I'll see ya out there.

I was wondering about those low levels. I used to fish Folsom a few times per month until I moved out by Marysville a year and half ago. I thought maybe my memory was gone cause I could not remember it being so low!

Well. they say on news 10 that they are expecting 250,000 acre feet of run off in to folsom from this storm, so maybe you'll get your wish.
