Hello Everyone!
I am not here to bash American Airlines, just merely wanting to point out the facts.
Out of the last two times I have flown with them my luggage has been lost TWICE!! The first time nothing was taken from the bag. This time...my camera, that had All of my photos from the Classic, and other high dollar items was stolen. So all of the wonderful pictures I took during the Classic is gone! When I contacted the airlines to report the stolen items...there response "we're sorry we do not cover replacement of those items." I understand their unable to give me the cash value of the items, they are there to make a profit, but they are even unwilling to offer ticket vouchers to help offset the cost of the lost items.
If anyone has any recommendations for a course of action or people I could contact to assist me in resolving this issue I would be extremely grateful. Otherwise, I would like to caution any and all from 1. packing anything of value in luggage to be checked in and 2. think twice before making a reservation to fly with American Airlines.

Really sorry to hear you lost your camera..You would think the airline would take some amount of responsibility, after all you did check your luggage with them..

Janet,
You are more understanding than I think I would be. I agree with Mac, they need to pony up and take some responsibility. If you checked your luggage with them, they ARE responsible for that luggage and it's contents until they deliver it back to you. If they assume no responsibility, what is to keep baggage handlers from going through any bag they choose and taking whatever they deem fit to pilfer? Maybe you need to go up the food chain a little and talk to someone higher than the so-called customer service rep. If you still get no results, let us know.....the power of the pen (or in this case, the keyboard) can be a wonderful thing. The Nutcase base is strong across the country and a lot of bad publicity and maybe a few complaints to American Airlines might help the next poor soul when it happens to them.
I wish you luck and keep us informed if you choose to take this to the next level. I'm sure there are a few of us "Nutcases" that would be willing to help with a bombardment of e-mails to American on your behalf. Just an idea to help our favorite and most photogenic Bassin Gal!

Thats very unfortunate. My dad was a pilot for American Airlines so I have flown them my whole life, never had any trouble w/ checked bags at all. I was at the Classic Sat and Sun, took alot of pictures and enjoyed every minute of it!!!

I ALSO LEARNED THE HARD WAY WHEN MY CHECKED CAMERA WAS STOLEN . THEN I TOOK THE TIME TO READ THE LUGGAGE RESTRITIONS AND IT SAID RIGHT THERE IN PRINT FOR ME TO READ THAT THEY DO NOT COVER CAMERAS IF STOLEN ... THEY PAID ME FOR THE CAMERA BAG. SO IT WAS really partly my (our) fault for checking the camera after it said it wasn't covered .. and i know almost no one reads the quote SMALL PRINT but it was/is there. i've never checked anything again that their rules says they don't cover if lost or stolen ..just my .02

Janet,
I would call them back and request to speak to someone in charge until they will accomodate your request to be recompensated. I had something similar happen this last Thanksgiving with a different airline and I just kept digging in until I got some satisfaction.
Good luck.
