Will The Curado 150 DC cast 3 1/2oz SB’s?

Can the 150DC handle River2Sea 200’s that weigh 3.5oz?
I’m pretty sure it will cast 200’s but what’s your thoughts?

Yes the 150 DC can handle a 200. Unless you are going to buy a specialty swim bait reel (in which case I’d go to a 300 sized reel). If you are specifically asking to buy a reel for these types of baits take a look at the tranx 300. I always tell people to use what you have and buy the best equipment you can afford. What you have will work, but what is ideal and will work are two different things.

I have a Curado 301E, and Lexa 300 but have a hard time seeing at night and being able to thumb my spool before backlash. I’d like to get a DC to help cast Swimbaits at night for Striper without backlashes and of course if the DC can handle these baits I can get a lot more family out fishing if the backlashes are under control.

I use the 300’s when I can see but Honestly am looking at the DC’s to replace my lack of Practice throwing bait casters.

PS, yes I know everyone has a hard time seeing in the dark lol, I’m in the “Night Blindness” category.

I bought a 151 6-2 gear. It’s small... I’ll be on the water tomorrow and hopefully have an update if anyone else is considering this reel.

Actually this is one of the exact Apps that Tranx200 was designed for. While CU150k DC could be used I woukd advise using either a 200k or Tranx 200, you will be much better off. Dan

I’ll be picking one up soon.
The 150 did cast them just fine with no backlashing on setting 4. In fact I didn’t even have to thumb it but it’s just a little too much for the reel in my opinion after casting.

If you're fishing for stripers at night, your odds of hooking into a big fish are much greater.
I would look at the reel's line capacity so you don't get spooled and broken off, or have your rod ripped from your hands in the dark. Something with a 14lb mono/180 yd spool should give you plenty of line.

I Disagree with above post on Tranx 200. No one can convince me that a tranx 200 with a 12 lb drag, and a reel
that will only hold 110 yds of 14 lb test is a good glide bait reel or made for it. I would not throw any swimbait with a weak 12lb drag. I would check out the lews super duty 300 with 24 lb drag and deep spool for 17-20 lb flouro.. If you had to throw on a smaller baitcaster, Lews Hyper mag has 22 lb drag and spool is decent
