First Pro Am...Lake Mead

Post by borderbuck »

Just want to say a big thanks to everyone at WON bass and the two Pros I fished with for making my first Pro AM a memorable experience.

New experiences to me included spearing a wave on Saturday with Ron Williams (won't forget that) and running back through the narrows with the sun rising on Mead with Randall Brandes was awesome. It was my first time on Mead.

Apparently I was a bit of a trailblazer being the first Canadian participant with WON Bass. (My home town should read Vancouver BC and not Sumas WA).

Anyway, thanks to all...it was a lot of fun.

Being your first time on Mead im glad she didnt let you down. She managed some of her best winds and waves last saturday. At one point I thought I was at the ocean the way the waves were crashing on the shore.

My best experience, I rode in my first Z21 on Saturday. What a ride, 4-5' rollers and we were passing boats (until we turned into one, brrrrr). If I had an extra 50k laying around I know what boat I would buy.

Hey borderbuck,

Glad to hear you had a good time on Mead. It was my first time to and I was paired with the perfect host..... Justin Kerr. He showed me in style what a great lake Mead can be. He was not only the perfect host but a complete gentleman and was willing to work with his AAA 110%. As a result we did well.

I've heard of Mead's swells when the wind kicks up can be pretty bad and Justin told me that he would do his best to keep me dry. After seeing what he were heading into I didn't see how that was at all possible. But true to his word I came back completely dry. True to his fishing reputation and his boat driving skills he impressed on me an image of a true professional. I wish the best in the future for him.
