Trolling Motor Shipping

Post by Basscat1972 »

Anyone ever shipped a trolling motor. If so what was the cost and how did you pack it to prevent damage from shipping. Looking to ship to buddy in Texas.

Shipping costs have gotten out of hand for the average guy the last 5 years or so. I'm guessing you're looking at spending around $150 to get that TM to Texas.
You need a sturdy box and styrofoam. Check behind furniture stores for supplies. You can cut a box down to size if its too big. Make sure the motor end is well protected. The magnets can bust if knocked around.
You can also check with Greyhound bus lines. They will ship from bus terminal to terminal. Probably a little cheaper to ship with them. You wouldn't have to box it up the same as you would with UPS or Fedex. Probably would just need to shrink wrap it. They do have weight and size limits so you would have to check with them to see if they will even ship it.

Check and see if UPS will wrap and deliver it for you, with insurance.
