My wife and I have never been there and are thinking about going for 3-4 days in late September or early October.. Being that it’s over 5 hours away I’d like some basic tips if anyone can share?
is late Sept. early Oct. a decent time to go?
My wife and I mainly fish Pine flat 99% of the time and finesse is our confident baits.. Can you get on decent fish up there with jigs and drop shots?
Thanks in advance, any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated..
Also pretty sure we’ll be staying in Kelseyville, so launch ramp suggestions also appreciated..
First Clear lake Trip.
Re: First Clear lake Trip.
September/October can be a pretty good time to fish Clear Lake. This time is usually a heavy time for tournaments. Not that the rest of the year isn’t. Having said all of this there’s a high degree of likelihood you’ll have no place to launch a boat due to low water conditions.
Several public ramps are already unusable. The 5th Street ramp in Lakeport seems to be the last ramp to become unusable as the water drops. A local guide is projecting sometime in August that the 5th Street ramp will no longer be useable. Better look to 2023 and pray for rain!

SBMike, thank you for the info.. I was worried about that, I guess we better have a backup plan just in case, maybe the delta for a few days.. We really want something different than the spotted bass lakes we’re used too..SBMike wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 2:33 pm September/October can be a pretty good time to fish Clear Lake.
