Camp Far West Conditions

Post by ACRon »

Anybody know the conditions at Camp Far West? Water Temp, Clarity, Debris, Stage the fish are in? I am taking my son up after school this week and would like to get him on some fish quick and give him a good afternoon.

Thanks to all

Couldn't be picking a better week to hit CFW as the prespawn feed is really on and catching them is a no brainer. Don't know if you will be in a boat or bank fishing but either way, head for the shallow coves and work the banks virtually anything including topwater and Senko type baits and you will tire yourself out catching fish. Water is clearing and heating up so don't waste any time wetting a line and letting your son have a great day.

Basslab,
Thanks. I will be in the Triton. I was thinking about Rock Creek or over by the Dam. Usually I prefer the River Arm but if it is still pre-spawn I will look for the coves.

Last year I mostly fished post spawn and found incredible schools of fry in the coves after the hatch. It was so cool to see the water black with the fry and then find the bass on the nearest drop.

Anybody know the water temp?

I believe it was around 60 degrees. I went early last week and caught quite a few. Mostly on crankbait and spinnerbaits. They were loaded up pretty good by the dam also. Good luck.

Thanks Guys. Went up and had a great evening. Water was 72-74 on the body and by the dam. The coves were up to 78. Thanks for the help.
