Where to take a young un this Saturday...?

Post by Kevin Evans - Kap »

With hardly any TOW this year,(besides tourney dates) I have not really had any time to fun fish and was looking for a lake or river to take a young un fishing where there might be a hot bite.... :) . I want to work him on fishing small plastics and such on spinning gear. Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Kap

KAP. Probably to far from your location, but Lake Briton or Antelope lake are putting out bass and crappie. Either is good to take a kid fishing. Bill K :)
Fun fishing the country, each and every week.

Oroville...pretty far as well, but the bite is on if you want to catch numbers...but you might want to launch somewhere other than the Spillway ramp. AC is going out of there I believe.

I took my wife and kids to Lake Tulloch two weeks ago. There was a good topwater bite in the morning for bass, but the kids slayed the bluegills in the creek arms with a bobber and nightcrawlers. They caught over 100 bluegills. It would not be to far from Santa Clara. Also the blugills should be biting good at Los Banos Creek about now. I haven't been there in awhile, but they usually are easy to catch this time of year.

Kap,

Since you're in Santa Clara I'd recommend one of the South Bay Lakes. If you have a boat I'd choose either Calero or Anderson. If not then I'd try either Uvas or Chesbro. All those lakes are easy to get to. You can call it quits whenever you get tired and be home in a short time. Most bass are post spawn now but there are a lot of aggressive males guarding the beds right now that are pretty easy to catch. There are a lot of crappies and bluegill, too. Good luck.
