Liberty Island Boating Hazards

Post by Aby »

Hello all, i was recently told that there are some boating hazards in the liberty island area.

He mentioned there is a cable that runs across???

I'm new to the area, so any insight & clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There are lots of underwater hazards out there. My recommendation with any new water on the Delta is to explore it during low tide and slowly, especially the flooded islands and oxbows. This way you have a sense for what it looks like and where to stay clear.

FYI-there are boating hazards on every part of the delta and if u go inside liberty there are road beds and fences and broken tractors and the entire rock banks have cables all thru them. Used to b a ferry that ran across slough so maybe the old cable from ferry. Many people have lost there blades on props. Tread carefully-as u should in all parts of the delta u are unfamiliar with
