Another lake closed

Post by Bruce Theriot »

Per mymotherlode.com, Lake Tulloch joins the list of lakes closed to boating, effective immediately.

Need to figure out a way to file a law suit against the California land commission, for their failure to test ballast water on cargo ships from the country’s that have golden mussels.
Would love to know how water can be transferred from the delta to Southern California with this golden mussel crap.

Now the Homeowners have a private lake all to themselves. Don Pedro with their $35 entrance fee will be making record profits.
Excellent question 896. Nobody's mentioned the aqueduct. The state is spreading the mussel from one end of the state to the other while charging us for a sticker.

Not only does this give us one less place to fish how about the owner trying to make a living? Just like Covid. Lock down the businesses and watch them go broke. California sucks. We had the best state in the country And now it’s ran by a bunch of Commies

I don't think its the states decision to close Tulloch to boating. That decision was probably made by OID and SSJID water districts. The store may suffer some but they will probably make that up in boat rentals. I'm not sure what the guy leasing/running the campground gets to keep in gate fees but i'm sure he will have to budget for the loss.
I bet they implement something similar to Melone's. The water districts don't care about the boaters or the money lost because they make millions off that water.

By late spring they'll reopen the lakes there not going to lose recreational boating and camping. Bass clubs don't count it enough to justify needing to be open now. The home owners got there way on tullock. That will also change by summer. Here in the central valley all lakes business as usual.

Jamestown, CA—Recreational boating has been closed on Lake Tulloch due to an invasive mussel threat.

“In an effort to protect Tulloch Reservoir from the potential spread of invasive species, the Tri-Dam Project has announced the immediate closure of the reservoir to all recreational boating until further notice,” state Tri-Dam officials said, adding, “This decision was made to prevent the introduction of the Golden Mussel, an invasive species known for causing severe ecological and infrastructure damage.”

Due to their rapid reproduction and ability to adhere to submerged surfaces, golden mussels pose a hazard to water sources by blocking conveyance infrastructure and intake pipelines. They have the potential to upset the natural equilibrium by displacing sport fish and native species. They are hard to get rid of once they are out there. The minuscule mussels may live in water for a long time as larvae. On boats or other watercraft, they may be carried with ease in live wells, bilges, ballast tanks, engine systems, plumbing, or any other compartment.

Out of the last 15 years each lake should have to furnish a record of how many confirmed cases of boats with confirmed mussels…………….ZERO…… All bologna!!!!!

Unless they done away with rentals last year all those boats tied up to those floating docks in front of the ramp are Rentals.
Of course it's all bologna. I would like to see some proof besides the states word that they're here and if they are what are the odds of spreading them by boat. Evidently it hasn't happened yet.
If they are here hopefully a fine upstanding citizen will take it upon themselves to grab a bucketful of mussels and kindly spread them throughout the state. It's inevitable anyway might as well get it over with.

Because I’m a delta only guy I haven’t payed close enough attention to the golden mussel situation. Is there an actual sticker we have to buy and if so is it only needed to fish lakes?

Yes. These is a sticker but I think you probably have it already. It’s not new. You get it with the boat registration
You need it everywhere including the delta

Obviously it’s more useless BS because we have been buying it for many years yet it does no good

The Day they closed Casitas an angler asked, what was to keep someone from getting a stone covered in quagga's from Lake Mead and throwing it in Casitas lake???....The knock Knock at his door was a sheriff investigating him for a domestic terrorism statement he had made...It was a question posed to the the powers at the gate that grew and grew until the next day he was answering questions. Try to enjoy what we have as it's getting worse and worse with no end in sight. The question about whether the state can guarantee the water without infestation worries is a great way to keep the water of NorCal in NorCal. The south will want a 100% guarantee that it's not possible to get an infestation ...I believe that lake Perris gets the last of the water from the aqueduct and they treat it in such a way that nothing alive can make it through the last half a mile of infrastructure and into the lake. No one can predict the future but it's going to get complicated is my guess.

This morning Folsom Lake was added to the list of likely moving to 30 day quarantine rule similar to Berryessa. It’s turning into 15 Minute Cities for boating. They want everyone locked into 1 location or you get out 10 times and burn 2 trips to get the boat in the water once.
This keeps up and the boat market will fall apart in this state.

Folsom feeds the American river
The American river is a major tributary of the Sacramento River.
The Sacramento River is part of the delta.
It all ends up going south bound

I believe Gamma Ray radiation is used by lake Perris to kill off anything coming in via the aqueduct...Don't quote me on that. The tagging system used by Casitas and other SoCal lakes keeps boats from moving around and swapping water from one lake to another from bilges and live wells by using time and inspection.

A friend was launching at Browns Ravine and the lady that works there was telling him about the inspection process and when the anticipated start is.
