Cleaning Rubber off Painted Blades

Post by Fast Eddie »

I have about 8 1/2 oz limit lure (Bob Lim) spinnerbaits that I recently found. Unfortunately when stored they were stored with other spinnerbaits with different rubber skirts which stuck onto the painted blades. Anybody have any ideas on how I could remove the rubber without damaging the paint on the blades. I've tried alcohol, goo gone, dawn soap, and everything I can find on the "net" is how to restore painted blades. These blades are very old, but they catch monster fish.
Thanks in advance

PS Anybody know if Bob is still around. I lost touch with him several years ago. Hope he's doin well.

I’d just get new painted blades and skirts. Done.

Give WD-40 a try.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.
1. Cannot change blades as the first blade would require straightening the Z bend in the wire to replace the blade due
to the type of attachment. (not a snap ring)

2. WD 40 isn't working either :(
3. What happened to Jigg'ns response. It was there last night.
I'm thinkin toothpaste would be too abrasive on the paint. Will try it on older gold and silver blades though.
Thanks all
Keep em coming if any more ideas come to mind.

I would replace the top blade and leave the bottom one as long as it spins. I have a few Lim-It lures spinnerbaits left in gold blades and they are treasures for me. RIP Stretch
