We are going to be at Shasta for a week on family vacation the 3 Rd week in June and looking for some tips, I have never fished there as I am from Idaho. I will have my 18.5' aluminum boat
1) I would like to go bass fishing in the morning before the family gets up, any particular areas of the lake this time of year? Spots or largemouth? Which arm?
2) Is there any panfish? Need to take the granddaughters to catch some fish in the afternoon? If not panfish maybe some trout? What area of the lake???
Thanks for the pointers, don't want your waypoints, just somewhere to start.

Re: Lake Shasta tips for mid to late June
Mr. Idaho Guy,
Stop #1
Phils Propeller In Shasta Lake, (3037 Twin View Blvd, Shasta Lake, CA 96019)(+15302754939) right off the 5 freeway (Oasis or Twin View Blvd exits) just a few minutes from Bridge Bay Resort. They'll have all the info and tackle you'll need.
Lake Shasta has mostly small rocks but you'll find wood up the creeks (Pit River, McCloud)
Trout you'll probably need a downrigger for unless the snow melt is keeping the temp down.
Depending on where you'll stay, or if your in a houseboat which river arm you go up, Phil's can help you out.
Fishing;
1. Drop shot for numbers, usually shad color worms and 1/8th to 3/8 weights. (lots of spots and largies)
2. Brown and Purple jigs with yamamoto twin tail trailers
3. Top water (Zara Spooks Poppers off points.
4. White chatterbais with a fluke type trailer in white. (hint If you see lots of action occurring in the middle, motor over and toss top water and chatterbaits.
The above should get you started, and the spots will bite all day so the grandkids will become tournament professionals in no time.
Good Luck and have fun
Watch for those wake boarders

Because you are coming from out of state, call Phils before you leave Idaho as we have this Golden Muscle problem and there's no telling if you'll be able to launch or not.

Make sure to have some Zara Spooks or equivalent. 1/8 oz. Ned Heads in white or purple. 1/8 oz. Darter heads. Worm colors War Mouth, June bug, Morning Dawn all in 4 in. Also a Chartreuse Pin some times they like 1/4" on the tail. Yamamoto 2.5" Double Tail Hula Grub Watermelon Red Flake on a ball head or football. I agree that every trip includes at least 1 stop at Phils.

I live in Redding. The 3rd week of June is going to be hotttt. You won't be looking for panfish mid-afternoon, you'll want to be in the water with an adult beverage. The other guys have you on the right track. Early mornings and evenings will be the only time its tolerable to be out and the fish biting. They will be chasing bait and causing some boils. Jigs, senkos, worms all in browns/green pumpkins. Top water spooks etc. You will find some fish in any part of the lake. Lake will be busy with rec boaters especially wake surf boats which will cause wakes rivaling ocean tides. Good luck.
