i don't have the name of any specific places but as i recall, there are only a handful of hotel/motels in Healdsburg. You might try searching for a place to stay in Santa Rosa which is about half an hour south of the Lake. It's a bigger town with more options.
Otherwise, there are also some boat-in campsites run by the Army Corp of engineers on the lake itself.

Unfortunately, I don't have camping gear or a generator so I can re-charge my boat batteries. I guess you could say camping is out.
I did find a motel 6 down in Santa Rosa.

I fish this lake almost everyday and i live in cloverdale, there are several affordible places to stay in cloverdale and you will have a safe place to park and charge your boat. give me a call at 707-318-3449 if you need any more information on the lake or a place to stay. By the way Cloverdale is only 10 minutes from the lake so its nut much driving time back and fourth.

If its deeper than a foot, I can catch a bass in it.

I'll be staying in Cloverdale, much closer then Santa Rosa. Good boat parking and easy charging. I believe the place I always stay is the Cloverdale Inn. If I dont see you there, I'm sure we'll cross paths on the water. Any questions feel free to email me team_okuma@yahoo.com

Unfortunately I don't find $60/weeknight and $100/weekend (Fri/Sat) night rooms affordable when you can stay at Motel 6 for 44.99/61.74 with the amount of traveling I do, it does make a difference.
I already have to drive around 190 miles (3.5 hours from Paradise) just to git ta the lake. I am seriously thinking about skipping this one, as spending over $500 to fish a Fed tourney is getting out of control.
Entry Fees: $105
Gas for Truck: $150 (there and back and to and from the motel)
Gas for Boat: $100 (two days of practice-as I have never even seen the lake and tourney day)
Motel Thurs: $45
Motel Fri/Sat: $122

It is alot of fun, but not $500 fun. If you dont need the points everyone would understand. I'll be there for sure, mainly because its a fun lake to fish and good company.
Hope to see you there

Gary, avoid the motel 6 in SR! Get something in Cloverdale or Healdsburg.

Re: Where to stay when fishing Lake Sonoma...
Do it the old mba bassin way... sleep in the back of the truck at the top of the free launch ramp or in and out of the campground before mr ranger comes. Saves $200 bucks. The lake is so small head west on the dry creek arm and put the trolling motor down. (saves $50 bucks in gas) charge your batteries from the bathroom outlet! Your talking to the king of cheap here trying to live the dream. It is not about the money just get out and fish!

If I don't meet you no more in this world Then I'll see you in the next one. Don't be late... Don't be late... Stevie Ray/Hendrix

gary,
how many days you planning to stay up there. this lake is not that big. i am sure you can squeeze two or three days out of your batteries. if your fishing the creeks most likely you will hardly feel the breeze or get blown.

Re: Where to stay when fishing Lake Sonoma...
I was hoping to git up there for two or three days before the tourney since I have never even seen the lake ( just my way of doin' thangs). My batteries are up for replacement (I wasn't paying them enough attention and let one of the TM batts run half dry
I also run a 21' lead sled so it takes a bit of battery to drag it around the lake
) but I am trying to hold off for another month or so. Just plain more comfortable with a full charge in 'em. Nothing worse than tourney day comes safter a couple of days of practice, the wind comes up and you don't have the batteries ta git ya through the day. Plan on changin' them out before heading to Alabama for the Stren Series Championship.
Also I gots no camping equipment and my ole beat up body don't care for it anymore.
One too many runs in the old bass boats I guess. Trying to save what is left of my back and neck.
