Whats Wrong with the Power Trim of my Boat??? CAN ANYONE HEL

I went out to get my boat ready for some bass fishing tomorrow, but found out that the power trim of my opti-max 225 won't work. I added fluid which it needed but when i press the rise or lower swich an all i get is a sound like if its seazed up . or like the battery is very low. I have the charger on the battery and its at full charge but the powertrim motor still sounds bogged down and won't raise or lower my motor anymore than a 1/4 of an inch if that. can someone please help me out??? Now i'm going to be stuck at home Sh#@! Those dumb Bass are lucky i cant be there or else! .

W.C., You might try spraying some WD40 on the Ram and lifting a little bit on the lower unit to see if it allows it to go up. My unit on my EFI was sounding like it was needing to be replaced, I sprayed it with WD40 and I guess the seals were dried or something because now it sounds like new and doesn't hang at all.

I will go out and try that right now , but i don't think thats the problem. the Rams feel like they got a slick coat of fluid on them. but i'm going to try it anyways. thanks

hey there I had an older ranger the trim pump used to get condensatoin in and it would quit it sounds like what you are going through. just take the pump apart and clean it up and see what happens. good luck

I was having problem with my tilt/trim that I was unable to fix after removing and disassembling the unit. Lyle, in Galt, fixed it for me. I know Galt might be a bit far from Modesto. But, Lyle is very reasonable and had the thing fixed in a day. Might be worth a shot.

Hey PC.! so about how much did it cost to fix?? It feels awful to not be able to go out an fish. it sucks... also the motor is trimed all the way down and won't raise at all so i can't take it anywhere unless u guys know what i can do... i was think of unscrewing the rams and have my son help me lift the lower unit. any suggestions would be greatly apprechiated

There is a relief screw on the tilt/trim unit. Back it out and you can raise it by hand. Lower it onto the trailing bracking by hand, then tighten the relief screw and and you can trailer it. Give your local shop or Lyle a call and they can give you an estimate for diagnosing the problem. PM me is you want Lyle's number.

1. How old is your battery. 2. Did you clean the battery posts & cables sounds like your not getting enought power to hyd motor. 3. Try switching to another battery. 4. open bypass [ the one that allows you to lift motor by hand] then try running trim motor, if it needed fluid it may have air in it.

Sounds like a Problem I had once and it was air in the line, Phil at C&C Bleed the line and worked the pump and motor real good and she was good to go!!

Has the boat been sitting for some time? Sometimes your up and down relays will stick. If this is the case you will hear like a little click each time you go up or down but nothing happens. I have tapped the relay and then sometimes it works. Your best bet would be to take it to your local shop. Don't take any thing apart because it could be nothing serious.

I just desided to take it to my boat mechanic in Denair. Hopfully its not the trim motor, i heard they cost about 600.00. damm what and expensive part. i could have bought 2 G-Loomis Glx rods for that amount. Ooh well the Boat has been real good to me. it was time for a little TLC. I will have him fix my Breaks and do the whole once over as well. Can any of u rich guys lend me some Money???
