Just wondering if anyone has used this line or knows anything about it.
Thanks
Has anyone used P-line Spectrex IV Briaded line
Re: Has anyone used P-line Spectrex IV Briaded line
Yep! I've been experimenting with it for the last 4 months or so. I spooled one setup with 65 lb Power Pro and my identical setup with 65 lb Spectrex at the same time and started using them. The first observation I made was that the Spectrex seemed to be more limp. After a few weeks use I noticed that the Power Pro was beginning to fade and was showing signs of minor fraying. Soon the Spectrex lost color as well but never frayed. As I said its been a few months and while neither line has failed at all I still prefer the spectrex as its easier to manage and still has not had any fibers fray or become "furry". Just my 2 cents but I definetely recommend checking out the line.

Thanks for the feedback, I saw some the other day at a pretty good price and it looks very similar to power-pro.

Frayed Power-Pro? That is news to me. I usually spool up my spook and frog rods in late April and unless something really bad happens the PP is still in great shape when I remove it around October. It is faded but I color the last 12-24 inches with black marker regardless. I have never had Power-Pro fray on me unless I used it for flipping around rocks. Of course I don't look at it under a microscope or anything but I have never experienced line failure with Power-Pro but I have seen rod failure as a result of it.

I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.

Crawdaddy,
"Fray" is probably not the right word. "Furry" is a pretty good explanation of it. Like i said, I never had any failure but if you look at older power pro it will have a fuzzy look to it which I believe has to have some effect on the breaking strength when compared to a similar line that has remained completely intact. I'm still using the two rods with both types of line to see how they continue to handle but I'm getting to the point that I'll replace the power pro as it just doesn't seem to be holding up as well as the Spectrex.
