Laws For Dock Owners

Post by JGB »

Does anyone know where I can find information on the laws that surround being a dock owner in California?

Thanks,

If your talking about the Delta, it has Corp Of Engineer mandates, so you could start there, after that I do believe it is county to county and you would just call building inspections department
for the county of interest.

It really depends on what yer secifically looking for JGB! If you are looking to build a new dock or repair an existing, a permit is require via the county building department same as with a home or other property permits.

Now if your looking for laws governing the ownership of a dock, these would proly fall under the same local laws as those provided for property owners, and they could be governed by Home Owners Associations, the City or the County.

Ya really didn't make it too clear on what issue ya needed to be addressed, hopefully one of these two will help.

Your right Cooch and I thank all of those who responded. I didn't realize when I asked the question that each individual body of water can have a different set of laws. That in itself answers most of the questions I have.

Thanks Again,

If its regarding permits, it may fall under the juristiction of the Corps, State Reclamation Board, DWR, your local Reclamation district, Fish and Game, Fisheries and Wildlife, State Lands, DEpt of Boating and Waterways, and about ten more I can't remember. (In addition to your county/city.)
