Is it dangerous? I heard that there is some rebar stiking up in Mildred that'll rip your motor off!! I want to enter the island tomorrow to throw some spooks for stripers during high tide but I don't want to risk it if it's that dangerous.
Also, I've fished franls tract quite a bit but I've always been scared to run through there because it's so shallow. What should i look out for in both of these places?

Mildred, you will need to be careful coming in and out of if not at a high tide. Beyond that I have not had a problem with any underwater obstacles. There are a couple of areas with sunken orchards but they are very easy to spot.
With Franks Tract, there have been some previous posts that you can find on some of the older pages or can run a search with Frank's Tract as the subject.

QUESTION BRINGS TO MIND IS;
IF IT SO DANGEROUS AT THOSE POINTS, WHY IS IT SOMEONE DOES NOT MARK THE BAD SPOTS OR REMOVE THE TOTALLY FOR FUTURE SAFETY ??
WE DO IT ON LAKES AND SUCH.

That really is a good question. Maybe the various agencies just like to pass the buck...JIGS TACKLE wrote:QUESTION BRINGS TO MIND IS;

In Mildred, be careful where you enter and leave the island. There are a couple of spots that look good at high tide that you cant enter without doing some serious damage to your lower unit.
The biggest thing to watch for.......
especialy at this time of year, is the hunters and their Duck blinds. Particularly in Frank's Tract. It just amazes me almost every morning, to watch the bass boats go flying right straight through all those blinds in Frank's first thing in the morning. We sit on the south side every morning while fishing for stripers and can just about predict the single warning shots versus the rapid fire towards the ducks themselves. There's plenty of room to give those guys their space first thing in the morning by going around them, versus through them.
Most of the really dangerous obsticles in Franlk's, Big Break and Mildred are visable if your paying attention. You should always pass through openings with caution, especially at low tide. Taking the extra caution and 45 seconds to come off plane and idle through these openings will prevent weeks of down down. damaged rigs and months of insurance hassles.
