Charity Bass tournament to benefit Lyme Disease and Autism??

Post by tamiduncan »

Hey guys!

I've started a foundation called Lyme Induced Autism. I am a mom with Lyme Disease and my son has autism AND lyme disease. We have now found hundreds of families accross the country with the same thing.. (moms with lyme and kids with lyme and autism) Autism is now an epidemic .. 1 out of 166 kids diagnosed. It is estimated that up to 90% of these kids also have lyme disease and hardly any treatment options.

The foundation was created to bring the lyme and autism docs together to come up with testing and treatments plans to help these kids. We have doctors ready to do important studies, but need 40K-100K to do a complete study.

My husband is an avid bass fisherman, some of you may know him..Troy Duncan of the Troy Duncan and Danny Branscum team from the Nevada Region. He suggested holding a Bass Tournament Fundraiser with the proceeds dedicated to reasearch for Lyme Induced Autism (lyme disease and autism research for kids)

I'm writing because I want to know what you guys think. Is this something that any of you would have interest in fishing in? helping with? etc.???? I'm up for planning and implementing it (with help I hope), but want to help ensure it's success. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Happy fishing!!

Tami,

Being an avid bass fisherman, always involved for a good cause and being the step-father of two autistic kids, I'm not only there but contact me if there is anyhthing my wife and I can do to help from the So Cal area. Hopefully, the wonderful, caring and generous bass guys and gals from So Cal will be there with me. There are not many in this world that are better than this bunch.

Thanks for doing this.

I am very familar with Troy and Danny...they have been taking my money for years  ...on a serious note, I would be more than happy to help....would this be a "Mead" event??? I am a special education teacher with some Autism background....feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions and I will give you my phone number......I'm sure some, if not all, of my sponsors would like to help....doesn't hurt to ask.....

Thanks for the responses. I so much appreciate the support. I think we're looking at Diamond Valley...possibly early June for this. But it's just in the idea stages right now. I'm sure I'll be looking for help and volunteers and of course fisherman if this gets off the ground.

I'll keep you posted on the status. Thank you again!

Hi Tami, I am the tournament director for WON Bass Inland Empire. I would be glad to lend a hand. I do have all the equipment needed for the tournament. In June you would have to do a six hour tournament during the day or have a night tournament six hours also. If I can help let me know. Bill Ponting 951-696-9003

Hi Tammy:
My name is John Barron and I have had a little experience running Charity tournaments. My crew and I would be happy to help you run a Charity event. If you choose So Cal to hold a tournament Diamond Valley is one of the more popular places but motor restrictions can be a problem. Havasu is another place that can draw a lot of boats and is a fun fishery. It's only 4 or 5 hours away and a fairly easy drive. Castaic would be your best bet though for the largest participation.

I am just overhwelmed by you guys. You're all awesome. I'll be making some calls to everyone this week. I think all of us working together like this can really make a difference for these kids.

Now where is Rick Grover donating me a boat? (kidding)

All seriousness, I'm humbled by the response and thank you. I will keep everyone posted on what we decide and call everyone that has e-mailed me or called me about this.
