Flipping/Pitching Rod

Post by TomG »

I have been researching flipping sticks in the 7' 6" to 8' range. I am looking for a rod that is somewhat light but strong enough to move fish out of heavy cover but won't wear you out after using it all day and has fairly good sensitivity. I have always heard that telescoping rods aren't as sensitive as one-piece rods but it seems like most flipping/pitchin sticks are telescoping now. I would like to keep it under 180.00 Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Hey Tom,

Ask Scott Sweet about a Rogue rod, its about that price range and they are light. He's always on here so he should see this post.

I love my Lamiglas XFT 806. It's 8ft and has a very heavy action, heavy enough to horse a nice fish out of heavy cover. It is a telescoping rod but is still very sensitive. I don't think you can go wrong with this rod. Hope this helps.

Ricky-S is right on. Team Daiwa Light and Tough 7'6" is a great rod for about $130 buxs. But for your $180 plus $20 more ($199) go for the Kistler Mg 7'8". Way better rod. Just as light, but better quality guides and handle. Super great rod for under $200 buxs.

If you have any questions on the Rogue Rod...drop me a line...we have both a 1 piece and 2 piece...2 weights.

Anglers Marine sells them if you like.

I agree with Ricky S about the light and tough but if you can afford a little more the 7'6" Cielo is awesome.

Do your research and pick them up and feel them. You will know when you have the right one.

If you are doing more pitching than flipping the Light/Tough is a good choice. The 806 Lamiglas is a great choice for reaching and flipping hard to get to spots. It has that classic parabolic action you want for horsing that Toad! As far as being sensitive... I detect bites very well with mine. Step up your sinkers to Tungsten, It really helps feel the bottom.

Good fishin'
