Motor Oil Prices for Merc 2-strokes

Post by MrSkeeter »

I've been using Yama-lube in my Merc175EFI based on recommendations from my merc mechanic. However, over the past 6 months, these have gone from $18/Gals to ~$26/gal in 5Gal cases (two 2.5Gal cannisters).

In recent months, I've noticed the Merc Premium Plus (what I used before) also is about the same as Yamalub.

I'm wondering what you prices you are paying and for what grade oil. Looking for some lesser (price wise, not quality) oil prices. Please post price and where you are getting the oil. Thanks.

Last time I bought bulk Yamalube it was $18.50/gal @ Diablo Marine in Pacheco. That was a couple of months ago...

you could step-up & use the best for your Outboard. I use Amsoil HPI. Runs about $25 per gallon on thier website, but with $20 membership, price drops to $20 per gallon. They'll ship directly to your door in a few days with no tax. Check out www.amsoil.com. Have used it exclusively for 8 years now. No oil-related failures to date!! 8) 8)

I noticed I payed more as well when I refilled my container last month. I didn't bother to ask Mike at C&C as I was in a hurry. I'm sure it's just the suppliers raising thier costs, Lord knows those rich middle eastern countries need more than they have.
I had to come back...I know...

Amsoil HP Injector oil. Here's a link to the page (I couldn't get Coral's link to work) describing the Injector oil:

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/hpi.aspx

Don't know about pricing but I do know that if you sign up as a preferred customer ($20) you get some kind of price break. Alot of folks say it's good stuff and I plan on using it when my extended warranty runs out. I know, I know the MFR can't dictate what oil you use unless they provide it at no charge, but they can sure hold up repairs while they attempt to "determine" if oil was a cause of the problem :?
