First Timer at Folsom

Post by G-Ko »

I am going to try fishing Folsom for the first time on Saturday and was wondering if anyone had any tips or information for me. I have never been on the body of water before and would appreciate any sort of assistance possible.

I am not fishing any tournament, nor pre-fishing...just going for fun. If there is a tournament or something I would really appreciate a "pm." I just want to go out and have some fun for a day. Thank you very much for all tips and advice in advance.

Take my advise, stay home and watch ballroom dancing!

Or just go to Folsom and enjoy all the pretty women at a local pub.

We fished it last weekend and enjoyed the bar a lot more then we did the fishing.

Guys that did catch fish slow rolled swim baits in the river channels, good luck.

Don't go!

If you want to fish for fun and catch some fish, go to Oroville. The bite at Folsom has been off from it's normal winter bite.

I agree with Rick, the bite was really tough. There were some fish caught in our tournament last weekend but it was not very many.

The bite has been tough so far this month...however, it will open up sometime...when? who knows, but I am hoping with this steady weather that it could be sooner than later. Right now you roll the dice...

There's a tournament out there on Sunday. Will probably be a few boats out on Saturday looking around.
The water is cold and pretty clear. Just fish slow with natural colors and I'm sure you get them. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. I may just sleep in on Saturday the way you all are talking, but most likely the fishing bug will get em and i'll be on the water struggling.

Thanks for the help

Can you please elaborate Saechao how were you successful? What type of structure? What baits worked for you? Approximate loction in the North Fork?

We went out Saturday and got a big fat baegal. Fished South and North fork, Peninsella, and New York. Water was as deep as 40'. We graphed fish once on a jump in 20' but could not catch them. From my experience, I would say stay home or accept the fact that you might get nothing for the day.
