Getting Cat hair out of carpet???????

Post by Lugnut »

Anybody know a way to get cat hair out of your boat carpet? Either one of my cats, or a nieghbor cat figured out that my cover wasn't secured and decided to take a nap in my boat  . I have tried a couple different things, but there is still cat hair in my boat. Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Replace the carpet..........

Try a tape roller or masking tape, put a bunch in your hand and pat the hair. Boil the tape when your done for a great broth!

Another method is using an air blower connected to your compressor.

Lint roller...Vacum cleaner with the spinning bristles...Lint roller...Vacum...Lint roller...Vacum...take a break and look for the cat with a BB gun...Lint roller...Vacum...Lint roller...Vacum...That should work. I've had to do it too many times. Good Luck.

Next time the jehovas witness people stop by, envite them to talk to you about jehova while seated comfortably in the bass boat, since that is where you feel closest to jehova. If they are wearing their sunday best, every cat hair in the boat will immediatly stick to them and your problem will be solved. Well, one problem will be solved anyway... lol

I'd try the vacuum cleaner and the tape, that should get most of it and the freeway on the way to the lake should get the rest. Good Luck

Hmmm, yea. Either get rid of the cats or shrink wrap the boat. :D

There is a broom of sorts that you can buy-they use to tout them at the fair, but you can get them at the store now. It is made of rubber I believe, it will sweep most any surface and creates static as you sweep, this cause small particles and hair to stick to it. I bought one and it works great on boat carpet, less than twenty bucks at Lowes (I think that is where I bought it) you rinse it off with water to clean it out.

I used to have the same problem with my old boat. What works the best is this. Go get a sturdy window squeege for getting water off your windows. Rub it on the carpet hard and it will ball up all the hair. Then take your shop vac and suck up all the hair balls. It will get all the hair and works good. Better then the lint roller. I also heard (not that I would know or anything) That a little anti freeze and milk will take care of that problem in the future.

I have the same problem i chase my damn cat's around the house when i catch them in my boat.My neighbor's think i'm nut's but i get so pissed off.

Once one of them took a crap in my boat oh my god where's my Sheriden pellet gun, just kidding. They get in becouse of the open space on the transom becouse of the motor so i stuff old pillow's in to fill the void and it seem's to be working.

you can get a product from you local pet store call Get off My Garden. Put it in a couple small containers on either side of the opening at the motor. This will keep them out. It really does not smell bad to you and me but for some reason Cats hate it. Its a substance like jello so it will not run and it does not stain if spilt.

Of course I have a nice cat trap you can borrow.....

I have one cat that has figured out how to get under my cover and lays right where baits hang from the rods on the deck.
I've tried a few things and this is what work's best for me. I use a scrub brush with a circular motion and it balls the hair up and you can pick it off the brush and the carpet. Takes a few minutes, and no more cat hair hanging off mt baits.
I had to come back...I know...

You ever hear the nursery rhyme "Puss and Boots"?

I wish I had a cat to live in my boat for security purposes. Whenever I leave it outside for a couple days the field rats get in the thing somehow. They climb through the exterior holes for rod handles and into the rod locker. Then proceed to check out the inside of my hull all the while krapping anywhere they want.
I'd take cat hair over rat krap rite now.

My cats have killed a number of rats and I've found them in the yard by the boat. A little cat hair is well worth it.

I hear that moth balls will keep the cats out. They are too strong for their senses.
