Lake Powell Questions ?

Im going to lake Powell for my first time in May. I was wondering if its better to fly into Vegas or Salt Lake City? And hows the drive from both places to the Bullfrog Marina? Are there any good places to stay near Bullfrog Marina? Last but not least as I start putting together a game plan, what's this lake like in May?
Any info will be great.
