Gas prices, Whass-upp ????

Post by L.Hackney »

Just wondered if these gas prices are starting to affect anyone's fishing yet or not ?
(how many times you go, making long runs, etc.)

Here is a web-site where you can check out all the stations prices according to zip code. Type in your's or where you wanna fill up and it compiles a list of lowest to highest..

That way ExxonMobil can make $5 million a hour instead of $4 million an hour.

Looking at a slower time in my life. I sold my Champion 202 with a XB250 and bought a Champion mean 16 with a 90. 4 full days fishing on about 10gals and I ran it hard to find out if the gas gauge would move.

I have a carbeurated 95 evinrude 200 on my old boat and an injected 225XS on my new boat... The difference is unbelievable... I can go all week on a tank of gas now when i'd have to fill up two-three times a week before... That's fishin 4-5 days a week as well...

Hack, if i comment, it might be hyjacking your thread. I will need to stay on topic so here goes. It might be hard..... But let me try....

to fully answer your question L.Hackney, no the gas prices are not affecting my fishing any. Dispite the US Govt. raisings our gas prices from $2.24 a gallon to $2.45 a gallon over night. The raise without increments did not affect me. However I filled up the boat which was half full and it cost me 50$

So all in all L.Hackney to stay on topic and not jack this thread, no the gas prices being at $2.45 a gallon do not affect my fishing any...... I still make the extra long runs becuase I know hard working guys like you and bones pay for it. LOL......

That might be my first good contrabution to this site in the longest time.....

Well, that's just great Wood to hear you're filling up with Govt subsidized gas. Here at home I'm paying $3.09 for regular to put in the boat and $3.29 for my truck because it needs 91 octane. A round trip to Berryessa is about 100 miles and my truck gets about 12 miles to the gallon at best. So you do the math. So far it isn't hurting me, but it still smarts.

Hey Smile,

Well for me to get to the lake I drive 187KM one way ( you can do the conversion) I pay 8400Yen in Tolls (round trip and you can do that conversion too) and then the boat gas. I could either fill up in town for 127Yen pre liter or take the Japanese gas on base for $2.45 that is tax free ( I think that is where the 54cents difference comes in that you pay over me.)

Oh, I forgot to mention, My pajero it gets about 20KM per gallon towing. Not to great either.....

Ah, it's great to be in the military, too bad it's ending shortly....

Ah, that's 2 for me now... remember stay on track everyone.

I have fished 3 weekends and still have a quarter tank...runnin' hard!!!

Nope, I haven't seen Diesel cheaper than gas. It is still running at the same rate the station is charging for mid or super.

For a while now, all the guys who spent the big $$ on their diesel trucks haven't seen the return on the mileage because of the cost difference in fuel and the $5k diesel option price tag.

Wouldn't it be nice if the producers of gasoline could tap into their own damn profites (that are billions annually) and cover their own repairs to their factories when repairs are needed.

I talked to my buddy in Alabama and he said regular fuel was 2.29 a gallon. What I dont understand is most of the gas we use here on the west coast is refinned right here in Richmond and Crockett. You would figure it would be cheaper here rather than have to be trucked all over and be sold cheaper. This is total BS and we need some type of regulations on the oil companys so it will make it fair for the entire USA

Yep, We as consumers need to stand up and let them know that this is BS.

We also need to stand up to the environmentalist maniacs that will not let a new refinery be built. We need more refineries!! I don't understand why they can't build one out in Galt, or somewhere a pipe line can be ran back to the port of stockton or Richmond. Like it or not, everyone reading this post will be using gasoline and diesel for the rest of your life.

Bass hunter,
that's what I always wondered. I bought a deisel origially to tow the boat with and that stuff used to be cheaper. I could never figure that one out either, deisel is a less refined fuel and is technically a more refined oil. I agree with your comment, we do need some regulations that help the consumer.
