Jay Wright Wins the Second Stop of the Top Stick Tour

Post by John Barron »

The fishing really tighted up with high skies and very little wind. The temperature on Friday was 100 degrees! Saturday did not get as hot but it was in the high 80's with very little wind. The days weather combined with extremely clear water conditions kept the shallow fish spooky. But even with the tough conditions Diamond Valley continues to be a great fishery. There was 127 fish caught weighing 432.20# for an average weight of 3.40 pounds per fish with 24 of the 28 boats weighing in a limit and Robo worms being the bait of the day.

Jay and his draw partner Willie Rocha did not get a lot of bites 7 to be exact.......but at the end of the day they just proved to be the right bites. Jay and Wille took home $4700 and $1600 respectively.

CJ will have a complete wrap of the the tournament soon. For now here are the results. they will be on the webstie soon along with the Points Standings.

We didn't catch many but we got a limit and it was an enjoyable trip. Anytime you want to come out to DVL on my boat give me a call.

Just goes to show...

Post by C J »

... how good a fishery DVL has become with everyone saying the fishing was tough, yet it takes almost 18 pounds to make the Top Ten.

It was an extremely good experience for me, being the weighmaster allowed me to handle more fish than I have in the past 2 years...... Breaking out the new Top Stick tournament trailer for weigh-in was sweet....Hearing the Pros thank the Ams and vice versa always reminds me of the days I spent as a non-boater and the friendships that were forged.....Handing David Handy a nice check felt great, with all the help he's handed me over the years....Seeing Ron Licari back up his Nostradamus prediction on an earlier thread, beware the Red Nitro lurking.... And spending the day with my family and friends enjoying another episode of the sport I love. Thanks Guys!

So far I have had two great partners and would like to thank them both . Bob Roady and Joseph Pain . Fishing was tough on the first two tournaments but both Co anglers kepted it together and we had some good laughs . Anybody drawing either of the two in the future top sticks will not be dissapointed . Thanks again for the good times . Kudos to Chriss and John as well for putting together this unique region , anticipating a larger field next season .

jb, Chris, and Eric Wong. What a great way to spend a saturday and anyone that draws Eric is in for a treat. He is the epitome of professionalism and focus. The bite was a bit off from the week before but we kept at it and managed a decent limit. Not once did he hit the panic button, which allowed me to keep my mind on the task at hand.

Thanks Eric

PS.. EW will take AOY

Yep props out to Jay and Partner for a big win on a tough day. Great job to cj and jb for running the event efficiently and getting us out there before the general public. jb that golf offer stands if you get the free time. I'll waive the green fees and take care of lunch for ya. Had fun and learned a thing or two

You're on Bubba!

Now I just have to find some time. I'll tell how long it's been since I have played a round (Jason Chang before you say anything played a round is different than "fooled around") I have Tommy Armor 845's that alone tells you how long ago I bought them, and I will most likely have to steel wool them to get the rust off.....
